Oromocto Volunteer Firefighters spent last nights training finishing up our yearly rapid intervention training.

This training is to focus on the removal and rescue of down firefighters during a structure fire if they become hurt or trapped.

These type of drills better prepares our firefighters in Oromocto if they ever get in a situation, and a very important part of our yearly training 🔥

🎅🚒 The Oromocto Fire Department is excited to announce our Annual Santa Food Drive on December 6, 2025!

We’re proud to support the Oromocto & Surrounding Area Food Bank and invite you to join us in spreading holiday cheer while helping families in need.

Three fire trucks will be travelling through town to collect food donations. To make it easy for everyone to participate:

• Route maps and starting points/time will be shared on our page next week, closer to the event.

• Live updates: On the day of the event, we’ll post a dedicated Facebook post where our team will provide real-time updates in the comments for each route, so you’ll know exactly where Santa is!

While Santa can’t visit every street, we’ll do our best to get as close as possible to all neighbourhoods. If your street isn’t on the route, look for nearby corners where you can wave to Santa and make your donation.

Let’s come together as a community, say hello to Santa and help fill the shelves of our local food bank!

Today we remember and pay respect to all the brave men and women who fought and continue to fight for our country.

More than half of our membership is made up of current or veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces. These members not only fought and served for their country but continue to serve their communities as firefighters.

We also remember and honour our fallen brother Lt Paul Martin who passed away in 2011 after serving our country. We talk about you often and miss you every day Paul.

Last night Station 2 assisted the Fredericton Fire Department with a commercial building fire. Tanker 2 & Rescue 2 crews operated hose lines, opened up and overhauled for a few hours.

Oromocto, Upper Kingsclear and Fredericton tankers shuttled multiple loads of water for the duration of the incident.

We would like to congratulate the following firefighters on the completion of their probationary period with The Oromocto Fire Department.

These individuals have put in many hours of weekly training, extra training for probie books as well as their NBCC log books to reach their goal as “Engine Rider”.

This amount of training goes well above 200+ hours, on top of responding to fire incidents and community support events.

Congratulations to the following!

Did you know we have a attendance policy that is in place to keep the public as well as members safe?

We require our volunteers to attend 75% of training (first two Tuesdays and last two Wednesdays of the month), 50% of apparatus checks (Sunday night) and 25% of fire calls. 🔥

We enforce these percentages to ensure our members are up to date with departmental training to best serve the people of Oromocto and surrounding areas.

If you think you have what it takes we are still accepting applications to join our team! Follow the link below 👇
