There is a lot of talk about our Downtown from candidates in every Ward.

Everyone says we need to 'fix it', but no one seems to have ideas on what to do. Especially the incumbents that have let it slide for far too long.

I've spent time researching, discussing, listening, and here's the start to my plan to improve our Downtown for all.

It will take a multi-pronged effort and will have to include the parking issues, development, promotion, but it will take all of us as residents and Councillors to make it work. More on those things coming soon, but here's my start on working on the homelessness, addiction, and mental health suffering.

Attended the Ward 3 Mayoral meet and greet event organized by Matthew Schaffer for Oshawa City Council Ward 3 tonight.

4 Mayoral candidates attended and we will leave it up to your imagination why the others didn't.

Seating was randomized in advance and questions were answered in a randomized format so that candidates took turns being first speaker through last.

Apparently candidates received questions in advance in order that their responses could stick to a 2 minute time limit.

The questions were well thought out and relevant.

Limited time was available for further questions from the floor.

I would estimate about 70 residents in attendance.

It was a first opportunity to meet and hear from 2 of the candidates. (Dave and Jim also attended the earlier meet and mingle hosted by Sylwia Lesner at the Polish Hall)

A number of non mayoral candidates were also in attendance from various Wards. Like other residents, they are also curious to compare Mayoral candidates.

A well organized event. A good turnout.

I enjoy these events for the opportunity to learn more about the mayoral candidates.

It is also great to see the cooperative nature of the other candidates running across the City. We show a new willingness to build relationships and discuss issues that affect the various Wards. It makes me hopeful for a much better Council in the future where we ideas and perspectives to build a better Oshawa with more open minds.

I am always humbled when a resident recognizes me for my past online activity and takes the opportunity to introduce themselves. It is also an opportunity to meet new people who have friends or relatives in Ward 4 that could be potential supporters.

Who won?
The voters.

They got an opportunity to meet the candidates and gain knowledge towards the fall election.

Knowledge is power. But the ultimate power comes from the ballot box.

There has been a lot in the media, both social and mainstream, about donations to municipal election campaigns. The emphasis has been on the historically high number and value of donations that can be linked to developers and it is a common issue across the province.Integrity is being questioned of t...

Not Ward 4 but definitely an Oshawa institution!

The traffic issues caused by Metrolinx, MTO and Regional construction are certainly having negative impacts on residents and businesses.

These are necessary projects but can have long lasting effects on businesses.

It is important to make a special effort to support local businesses during these difficult times.
Let's support Mr Burger and all our local businesses.

I was honored and humbled to be asked to spend an afternoon with Sid Goyal for Ward 5 City Councillor - Oshawa to speak about Oshawa taxes and budgets.

it can be a deep topic, but Sid has done an amazing job of editing it down to this short video with an overview of the process and the spending.

As future elected representatives, collaboration is an important part of representing the collective voices of Oshawa citizens. Despite running to represent different Wards, the job itself is about making the best decisions for the City as a whole.

Thank you Sid Goyal. Looking forward to many more discussions and collaboration along the way.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

It was a great pleasure to share an afternoon with Sid Goyal, candidate for Ward 5 City Council, to talk about taxes and budgets.

Sid did some editing to shorten our conversation into this video and I appreciate the opportunity to share.

Thank you Sid.

Here's your sign.

They can't be placed roadside until October 1.

But I will make your voice heard at City and Regional Council.

On October 26, vote Jeff Davis to represent Ward 4 Oshawa.

Some interesting additions to the candidate lists. We don't know if it is final yet as 2 pm was the deadline and website updates may take time.

Other than French language school boards, NO ACCLAMATIONS.

Every Ward has a race, some larger than others.

Hats off to everyone putting their name forward.
