Guests will get the chance to learn about the growing need for food support in our region and how FTND, together with more than 70 community food programs, helps ensure food reaches children, families, seniors, and individuals who need it most.

At Feed the Need in Durham, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive and participate fully in our community. With the support of compassionate donors and partners, and guided by our core principles of Dignity, Access, and Equity, we are working to reimagine food banking across Durham Region.

In May 2024, that shared commitment came to life when FTND partnered with the Town of Whitby to open a new market-style food bank at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre. The success of this service was made possible through strong community collaboration and the support of Mayor Roy, who helped secure the location and contributed funding through the Mayor’s Community and Development Fund. This investment provided essential equipment, enabling the program to deliver food support in a manner that promotes dignity, choice, and accessibility for local residents.

As demand continues to grow, donor generosity and local partnerships will remain essential to expanding access to nourishing food. FTND will continue working alongside community food banks within its network, including North House in Uxbridge, to bring the Market Model to more communities and help ensure that neighbours across Durham Region can access the support they need.

The ID and Benefits Access Hub can help you:

✅ Apply for benefits and programs.

✅ Connect with housing and employment supports.
✅ Speak with OW and ODSP staff.
✅ Access community services.
✅ Sign up with local food support.
✅ Learn about Health and Transit services

Put on by the TLC Community, the gala celebrates those who work in health and wellness, connecting them and recognizing their impact. This year, FTND was generously selected as the charity of choice for silent auction proceeds, which will help provide an impactful 2,230 meals to our communities!
