πŸ’™ Celebrating the Heart of PET πŸ’™

As we approach the final days of another wonderful school year, the PET School Community Council (SCC) invites our students to help spread a little kindness, gratitude, and joy!

From June 22–24, let’s recognize the incredible staff members who make Pierre Elliott Trudeau Public School such a special place to learn, grow, and belong.

From the classroom to the sports fields, from keeping our school safe and clean to healing playground scrapes, our staff truly do it all. They inspire curiosity, build confidence, and make a difference every single day.

✨ How students can participate next week:

πŸ“ Write a heartfelt thank-you note.

🎨 Contribute a message or drawing to our Thank You PET Staff Mural.

πŸ’™ Complete a Staff Appreciation worksheet.

A few thoughtful words can go a long way. Together, let's show our appreciation for the remarkable people who shape who our children are today and who they will become tomorrow.

Thank you, PET staff, for everything you do! πŸ“‹βœ¨

πŸŽ“ Congratulations to our Grade 8 Graduates – Class of 2026! πŸŽ“

As the school year draws to a close, we are proud to celebrate our incredible Grade 8 graduates as they complete their elementary school journey and prepare for the exciting adventures that await them in high school.

Over the years, these students have helped shape the spirit of PET through their leadership, kindness, creativity, resilience, and school pride. Whether in classrooms, on sports teams, on the stage, through clubs and extracurricular activities, or simply through the friendships and connections they built each day, they have contributed to making our school community the vibrant, welcoming, and inspiring place it is today.

While it is difficult to say goodbye, we are filled with excitement as we watch them take this important next step. We know they are ready to embrace new opportunities, build new friendships, and continue growing into confident, capable young leaders.

To our graduates: thank you for the energy, enthusiasm, and heart you have brought to PET. Thank you for being role models for younger students and for helping create a school community where everyone belongs.

As you move forward, we hope you carry with you the memories, lessons, and connections you have made here. Continue to be curious, continue to be kind, continue to work hard, and continue to shine.

The future is bright, and we cannot wait to see all that you accomplish.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! Once a Trailblazer, always a Trailblazer. πŸ’™βœ¨

πŸŽ“ Congratulations to our incredible Grade 8 graduates! πŸŽ“

This is such a special and exciting week as our Grade 8 students celebrate the culmination of their elementary school journey.

From their Graduation Trip to Niagara Falls to Graduation Day itself, there are so many wonderful memories to be made as they prepare for the next chapter of their learning adventure. We are so proud of all they have accomplished and the growth, resilience, leadership, and friendships they have built along the way.

Enjoy every moment of this milestone week, Grade 8sβ€”you've earned it! We can't wait to celebrate with you. β€οΈπŸ–€

🍿 Don't forget that this Friday is our LAST Popcorn Friday of the school year! Thank you to everyone who supported this SCC fundraiser. Proceeds from Popcorn Friday help support the incredible PET Theatre Arts extracurricular program, providing opportunities for our students to explore their creativity, build confidence, and shine on stage.

Have a wonderful week, Trailblazers!

🌱 Growing More Than Just Plants! 🌱

This spring, our school community has invested time, care, and talent into creating two beautiful garden boxes that are already thriving with life. Our Grade 4 students have been learning hands-on gardening skills, from planting seeds and seedlings to caring for sprouts and watching them grow.

From crisp lettuce and sweet peas to tomatoes, strawberries, towering sunflowers, marigolds, and colourful zinnias, our garden will soon be bursting with colour, beauty, and promise!

A special thank you to Michelle from Gardens by Michelle sharing her knowledge, planning the boxes with students and using her skills to help make this learning space flourish.

School gardens offer so much more than fresh produce and beautiful blooms. They teach students responsibility, patience, teamwork, and environmental stewardship while fostering curiosity about where food comes from. Gardening also supports student well-being by encouraging outdoor learning, connecting with nature, and building confidence through hands-on experiences.

We can't wait to watch our garden continue to grow throughout the seasonβ€”and to see the many lessons it will help our learners cultivate along the way! πŸŒ»πŸ“πŸ…πŸ₯¬

β˜€οΈ A important reminder about the warm weather! β˜€οΈ

With students spending more than 90 minutes outdoors each school day, families are encouraged to help keep learners safe, comfortable, and ready for outdoor fun.

Please ensure your child comes to school with:
🧒 A hat
πŸ’§ A reusable water bottle
🧴 Sunscreen
πŸ‘• Cool, lightweight clothing

A few simple steps can make a big difference in helping students stay healthy and enjoy the sunshine safely. 🌞
