We were proud to support and attend TEDxOshawa 2026, an inspiring event that brought together some of the region’s most innovative thinkers, creators, and change-makers, hosted at the historic Biltmore Theatre. Events like TEDxOshawa play a vital role in amplifying local voices and showcasing Durham Region's thought leadership.

We were especially excited to have Melody Purification in attendance, representing Spark Centre and engaging with the incredible ideas and conversations that unfolded throughout the afternoon. There she saw Spark Centre client, Brenden MacDonald of Ekstera, speaking at the event.

A big thank you to the organizers, speakers, and volunteers who made this event possible. Together, we continue to build a stronger, more connected local ecosystem.

Spark Centre was proud to host NexScale's Fitness & Wellness Studio Owners Roundtable last night. It was an evening designed to bring together studio owners for a curated, small-group conversation focused on member retention, sustainable growth, and community building.

This wasn’t a sales-driven event — it was a space for honest, peer-to-peer dialogue, where founders could share real challenges, exchange insights, and learn from others on similar paths.

This is what a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem looks like:
• Founders supporting founders
• Ideas flowing openly
• Growth fueled by collaboration

At Spark Centre, we see every day how meaningful connections can accelerate progress. When entrepreneurs come together, they don’t just build better businesses, they build a stronger, more resilient community.

NexScale’s emerging technology is helping businesses deepen client relationships and improve retention through smarter, data-driven insights. In today’s landscape, tools that strengthen client engagement can make all the difference.

Looking forward to continuing to support conversations, and connections, hat help our entrepreneurial community thrive.

Hosted by the Ontario Centre of Innovation, DiscoveryX is Canada’s premier innovation event — bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, government, and industry leaders to showcase the strength of Ontario’s innovation ecosystem and turn bold ideas into real-world impact.

As part of Ontario's Regional Innovation Centre booth, we were proud to have Spark Centre's Executive Director, Martin Yuill along with Gurmeet Tanwar, and Melody Purification on-site, building relationships and championing the entrepreneurs driving the knowledge economy forward. Seeing Spark Centre client Joel Nascimento of Kevares there, as part of the Toronto Zoo booth, was a special highlight!

Events like DiscoveryX highlight what’s possible when collaboration fuels commercialization — connecting startups with the people, capital, and expertise they need to grow and scale.

That’s why this conference matters so much to Spark Centre. It aligns directly with our mission to support founders, accelerate innovation, and help build the innovation economy of tomorrow.

A not-to-be-missed webinar on April 21 at 10:00am.

Electronic Product Development: From Concept to Manufacturing

Bringing an electronic product to market requires more than great ideas — it demands a structured, end-to-end development approach. This webinar will cover the complete product development lifecycle, from initial concept and system architecture to prototyping, validation, and full-scale manufacturing.

Using a clear process framework, the presenter will break down each stage of development and highlight how early decisions impact cost, performance, and time-to-market. Also highlighted will be the Design for Excellence (DfX) principles including design for manufacturability, testability, reliability, and compliance to help build robust, scalable products from day one.

Whether you are developing a new product or optimizing an existing design, this session will provide practical insights to reduce risk, improve efficiency, and accelerate your path to production.

Presenter: Titu Botos, CEO and Founder, NeuronicWorks Inc.

Logan Vision was created in 2018 by three University students from China. Their Fusion Vision System (FVS) is an augmented reality smart visor that attaches to a firefighter’s helmet and combines heads-up display tech, thermal imaging, sensors, signal transmission and augmented reality to provide hands-free visibility in dense smoke and share real-time information.

Longan Vision had the beginnings of an innovative product but needed a way to continue their venture in Canada with resources to support the growth of their business in Canada. Spark Centre supported Longan Vision with a letter of support and also connected the startup with its advisors in sales, marketing, finance and investment and with partners who provided industry feedback on their product. With Spark Centre’s help, Longan Vision also made valuable connections with its target customers in the region.

A lot has happened for Longan Vision since. The Longan Vision team, which has significantly grown in size, launched pilot projects in both North America and Asia, including a pilot program with Durham College’s firefighting school.

Congrats on your continued success!

Today we had the pleasure of attending the Power of Possibilities – Entrepreneur Panel hosted by the Whitby Chamber of Commerce.

The panel brought together seasoned entrepreneurs — including Spark Centre advisor, Nicole Troster — who shared real, practical insights drawn from their own startup journeys, from validating ideas and avoiding common pitfalls, to understanding the fundamentals that truly matter.

A key theme that stood out was scaling with intention. Growing a business isn’t just about doing more — it’s about building better systems, strengthening teams, making smarter decisions, and leading with clarity so your business can grow without becoming overwhelming or unsustainable.

What made this session especially impactful was the honesty and lived experience shared. These are founders who have been in the trenches and are now helping others navigate the path forward.

The most successful businesses are often the most coachable. Being open to learning, adapting, and taking guidance can make all the difference in achieving sustainable growth and long-term success.

Thank you to the Whitby Chamber of Commerce and all of the panelists for an insightful and inspiring event.

Supporting entrepreneurs means investing in the future. The ideas nurtured today have the potential to transform industries, strengthen communities, and create lasting change on a global scale.

Congratulations to all of the graduating companies — Kavodax™, Yadag, ParentSOS, Solomind.AI, NexScale, Postulift, ProfiVise, Virtual POCT and Vivirion Solutions — your journey is just beginning, and the future you are building is an exciting one to watch.
