We are aware of a prescribed burn south of the border with smoke visible and will stay up to date on the situation.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on September 25, Anarchist Mountain Fire Department (AMFD) firefighters responded to a report of smoke on Anarchist Mountain.

Crews located a small brush fire that had been caused by a lightning strike earlier in the day. The fire was in difficult-to-access terrain, requiring crews to establish a water supply over a considerable distance.

Through a coordinated and efficient response, firefighters were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire. Crews returned to quarters at approximately 10:00 p.m.

AMFD crews will return to the scene today to conduct a thorough inspection for any remaining hotspots and to recover hose and equipment.

🔥 A reminder to our community: Even with a Fire Danger Rating of 1 (Low), fires can still start and spread quickly, particularly given the extremely dry conditions in our area. Please continue to use caution with any activities that might be an ignition source.

We would also like to remind everyone about the RDOS Pop-Up Event and Anarchist Mountain Fire Department Open House this Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!

At 4:20 pm September 19th, Anarchist Mountain Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle incident (MVI) on Hwy 3. Due to the size and complexity of the incident, we requested additional support from Osoyoos Fire Rescue.

Working together, our crews successfully and safely assisted with patient extrication and transfer to BC Ambulance Service.

A sincere thank you to Osoyoos Fire Rescue for your quick, professional response and outstanding support. Strong inter-agency cooperation like this plays a vital role in providing safe and effective emergency response to our communities.

We would also like to recognize and thank everyone involved, including BC Ambulance Service (BCAS), RCMP, Collision Craft, and AIM.

Great teamwork all around — thank you to everyone who contributed to a safe and coordinated response.
