AMFD was toned out initially to this fire but it was determined to be in Osoyoos area. AMFD members were able to relay scene info to Osoyoos Fire so they had information upon arrival. Departments working together for safer communities.

Today at 7:38 OFR responded to a car fire on Hwy 3.

On arrival of the first truck, Firefighters saw smoke showing from a semi truck. Our crews quickly knocked out the fire and went into overhaul.

Osoyoos Fire Rescue responded with 2 engines, 2 support vehicles and 11 firefighters to the emergency call.

Osoyoos Fire Rescue thanks RCMP & Anarchist Mountain Fire Department crews for their support. Our crews returned back to the station around 9:15.

Given the scope and scale of wildfires currently burning in B.C., and to further protect public safety, recreational off-road vehicle use will be prohibited on Crown land in the Kamloops and Southeast Fire Centres, as well as parts of the Cariboo and Coastal Fire Centres. This prohibition is effective immediately, as of 12 p.m. (noon) on August 10, 2026.

AMFD TRAINING NOTICE

Anarchist Mountain residents, AMFD practice begins at 6:00 PM tonight. Crews will be conducting training scenarios at various locations throughout the Mountain.

During this time, you may see or hear fire apparatus, lights, sirens, pumps operating, or increased dust in some areas. Please be aware that these activities are part of scheduled training exercises.

If you see smoke or suspect a wildfire at any time, always report it by calling *5555 or 911.

Peach Festival Fundraising Efforts Continue Following Rally the Valley

Following an incredible show of community support Saturday evening, Penticton Peach Festival will continue accepting donations in support of the regional wildfire relief effort, while all remaining Sunday festival programming has been cancelled.

Saturday night’s Rally the Valley, featuring Virginia to Vegas and Tristan Telle raised over $5000 for the relief effort.

What came together in only a matter of hours was an incredible reminder of what our community can accomplish when people rally around those who need support.

We are tremendously grateful to Virginia to Vegas and Tristan Telle for stepping up on such short notice and bringing their energy to Penticton. For a few hours, our community was able to gather, dance, connect and turn an incredibly difficult weekend into an opportunity to help.

Our deepest thanks also go to everyone who attended and donated, our volunteer directors, sound and stage crews, sponsors, and the Penticton Lakeside Resort & Conference Centre for their extraordinary flexibility and support. We are incredibly proud of the Peach Festival team for pivoting so quickly and wholeheartedly to make the evening possible.

As the wildfire emergency continues, we believe the focus of our community, resources and volunteer capacity needs to remain with those impacted and the ongoing emergency response. For that reason, all Peach Festival programming scheduled for Sunday, August 9 has been cancelled.

While this is not how we imagined concluding our 79th Penticton Peach Festival, we could not be prouder of how it evolved — from a weekend of celebration into an opportunity to stand together and support our neighbours.

And that support doesn’t have to end with the Festival.

Thank you, Penticton and the entire South Okanagan, for rallying together when it mattered most.

RDOS hosts regional fire services information session

The RDOS is hosting an online public information session to share details on regional fire service coordination and ongoing operations. The online format enables residents and property owners from across the region to participate and access information, including those outside the area.

The RDOS Chief Administrative Officer, Manager of Protective Services, and Manager of Regional Fire Services will be in attendance, along with members of the RDOS Board of Directors.

Good morning from your Anarchist Mountain Firefighters. We will be out in the area again today doing mop up on the second lightning strike fire from yesterday and keeping our eyes open for any others that might appear. We thank everyone for their ongoing support. If you see us working, please be careful around our crews as we may be in the area filling our water tenders.
