We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of four Canadian Armed Forces members at CFB Wainwright, Alberta during a training exercise on Oct. 17.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says 39 people were hospitalized following a grass fire that broke out during the exercise Saturday and at least 19 of them are listed in critical condition.

Our thoughts here in West Carleton-March are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, those who've been injured, and the fellow service members who are mourning this heartbreaking loss.

As a tribute, the West Carleton War Memorial in Carp has announced that its flag will fly at half-mast until further notice (Image credit: West Carleton War Memorial).
