OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE HIGH COMMISSIONER TO EDMONTON, ALBERTA
Her Excellency Professor Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, High Commissioner of Ghana to Canada, undertook an official visit to Edmonton, Alberta, from 6-9 May 2026. The visit strengthened cooperation with Alberta in trade, investment, innovation, agriculture, health, education, and diaspora engagement.
Her Excellency held high-level meetings with Premier Danielle Smith, the Lieutenant Governor, the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), the Mayor of Edmonton, Edmonton Global, and sector ministries responsible for agriculture and health. Discussions focused on economic cooperation, innovation-led partnerships, and opportunities for collaboration across key sectors.
She also engaged academic and innovation institutions on practical partnerships in research, skills development, and sectoral cooperation.
Her Excellency met with the Ghanaian community in Alberta, commending their contribution to the province. In attendance were MLAs of African descent, friends of Ghana, and participants from other African countries. Her Excellency briefed the gathering on the policies of the Government of Ghana under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama and addressed their concerns. The community enriched the event with Ghanaian traditional music and dance, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere.
The High Commission expresses appreciation to the Government of Alberta, the City of Edmonton, and the Ghanaian community for their support and hospitality.
