🇭🇺 2026. augusztus 19-én hivatalba lépett dr. Baka András köztársasági elnök. 🇭🇺

Dr. Baka András 1952-ben született, Budapesten. 1978-ban diplomázott az ELTE Állam- és Jogtudományi Karán, 1989-ig alkotmányjogi kutatásokat folytatott a Magyar Tudományos Akadémián. 1991-2008 között a strasbourgi Emberi Jogok Európai Bírósága első magyar bírája. 2008-2009 között a Fővárosi Ítélőtábla elnöki bírája, 2009-2011 között a Legfelsőbb Bíróság elnöke, később a Kúria tanácsvezető bírája.

🇭🇺 On 19 August 2026, Dr András Baka took office as President of Hungary. 🇭🇺

Dr András Baka was born in Budapest in 1952. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in 1978 and conducted research into constitutional law at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences until 1989. Between 1991 and 2008, he was the first Hungarian judge at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. From 2008 to 2009, he served as Presiding Judge of the Budapest Court of Appeal; from 2009 to 2011, he was President of the Supreme Court, and later served as a Senior Judge at the Kúria.

Hungarian dog breeds - including the Puli, Pumi, Mudi, Komondor, Kuvasz, Hungarian Vizsla, Wire-haired Hungarian Vizsla, Hungarian Greyhound, and Transylvanian Hound - have been the trusted companions for centuries. If you live in Canada and have a dog of a Hungarian breed, please send us a short, vertical-format video of your pet during a walk, playtime, or another joyful moment. Please include the dog’s name, breed, and the Canadian city from which you are sending the video. 🐕

We are accepting submissions until August 24th at [email protected].

A nagykövetség számára öröm és megtiszteltetés volt vendégül látni a montreali olimpia magyar hőseit, akik az esemény 50. évfordulója alkalmából látogattak el Kanadába. Köszönet az Ottawai Magyar Háznak a fővárosi programhoz nyújtott támogatásért.

It was a pleasure and honor for the Embassy to host the Hungarian heroes of the Montreal Olympics, who visited Canada on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the event. Thanks to the Ottawa Hungarian Community Centre for their support of the program in the capital.

The meeting was a great opportunity to discuss collaboration possibilities between uOttawa and 🇭🇺 universities.🎓
