Ottawa Innercity Ministries

Ottawa Innercity Ministries (OIM) is an interdenominational Christian charitable organization serving the poor and homeless in downtown Ottawa.

For over 30 years OIM staff and front-line volunteers make sure our hungry, hurting, and isolated street friends receive not only food and clothing, but companionship and care without judgement. In 2022 OIM made 25,000 street friend connections, providing emergency relief for adults, veterans, and youth. OIM programs include:

Street Outreach – Our core program where Volunteer teams are meeting up

to 170 people per day, up from 60 in 2021

Door Outreach - Volunteer teams serve 70+ friends each Tues & Thurs, up from 20 in 2021

Innercity Veterans Outreach & Support (IVOS) - Volunteers lessened the isolation of 133+ Veterans, personally supporting them at weekly Drop Ins, monthly Movie Nights, in just over 2 years. Innercity Arts - Volunteers nurture a safe & supportive environment for youth ages 16-32, to engage in the visual and musical Arts Community

On June 23rd, our team and volunteers will be coming together once again for our Summer BBQ Meal ☀️🍔 as we serve our neighbours in downtown Ottawa with food, friendship, and compassionate care.

These gatherings are about more than a meal. They are about creating connection, reminding people they are valued, and offering hope through community and kindness ❤️

Serving others often comes with both joyful moments and difficult ones 💙

Serving those who served 🇨🇦❤️

Through OIM’s Innercity Veterans Outreach and Support (IVOS) program, homeless and at-risk Veterans receive support through practical care, weekly fellowship, street outreach, and one-on-one help from staff in a welcoming community 😊

Whether it’s through meals, conversations, resources, or simply being present, this program exists to remind Veterans that they are valued, supported, and never alone.

As the weather warms up across Ottawa, OIM is seeing more and more people turning to our outreach teams for support each day 🌷💙
