In our continuous effort to help alleviate hunger and food insecurity in Ottawa, we're announcing a new partnership with the FAMSAC Food Bank, adding a new stop to our Food Truck route.

The Mobile Mission Meals Food Truck will stop by Hollyer House, at 3865 Old Richmond Road, on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. The service at this stop will be from 3:45 pm to 4:15 pm, starting this Tuesday, August 11th.

This new addition helps us support more communities across the city and brings our network to 42 Food Truck stops where we provide nutritious meals to those in need.

Together, we can make a difference in the life of someone struggling to bring food to their table.

Extreme heat wave alert — please share. ☀️🥤 Extreme heat can be life threatening for neighbours without shelter. Our Frontline team is increasing checks and offering water, ice packs, and access to cool, safe spaces.

If you’re in the heat right now:
• Sip water often (avoid alcohol/caffeine) 🧊
• Rest in shade or an air conditioned space 🪑
• Cool down: damp cloth on neck/wrists, take a cool shower 🚿
• Watch for symptoms: dizziness, headache, nausea, confusion. If severe, call 911 immediately 📞

It was a pleasure to welcome your group to The Ottawa Mission for a tour and share more about the work we do. We're grateful for your support and your commitment to helping provide care, hope, and essential services to those who need them most.

🍦 Chiromax of Manotick – thank you for organizing an ice cream fundraiser to treat our clients to delicious Kawartha Dairy ice cream! Your thoughtful initiative helped our community enjoy a refreshing break during the summer heat, and it certainly brought plenty of smiles. ☀️💙

This month, Ottawa City Council took an important step regarding housing stability by passing the Rental Renovation License Bylaw. This bylaw restricts bad-faith evictions by requiring landlords to secure municipal construction permits before issuing N13 eviction notices, and if vacant possession is proven necessary, landlords are responsible for providing a city-produced tenant education guide.

Protecting existing affordable housing is one of the most cost-effective homelessness prevention strategies our cities have. Upstream policies like this stop displacement before it forces our neighbours into our shelter.

The Ottawa Mission supports this bylaw as a step towards improving housing stability. A huge thank you to Councilor Ariel Troster for championing this at City Hall, and to our partners in the community for their advocacy and persistence.
