Accessibility matters—everyone deserves the opportunity to participate, contribute and succeed at work.

This AccessAbility Week we’re taking time to reflect on the steps we’re taking to build a more inclusive and equitable workplace at DCC.

We worked with our employees and external consultants to assess our workspaces, systems and employee experience through an accessibility lens. Their input helped shape our 2026–2028 Accessibility Plan, which outlines practical steps to reduce barriers across DCC.

We’ve also provided employees with a helpful intranet resource on all the accessibility features available to make their daily computer work easier. In addition, our Diversity and Inclusion team is working on introducing checklists for accessible meetings and accessibility awareness training for employees.

By reducing barriers in the workplace, DCC is making efforts to build a strong, accessible Canada.

Kicking off DCC’s 75th anniversary year!

Yesterday, Defence Construction Canada (DCC) launched its 75th anniversary celebrations with a national hybrid event, bringing together employees, colleagues, industry leaders and partners from the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces.

From the National Arts Centre in Ottawa to offices, project sites, and communities coast-to-coast-to-coast, we came together to reflect on 75 years of supporting Canada’s defence and security.

The event opened with a meaningful welcome from Elder Vince Kicknosway of the Bkejwanong Anishnawbek Unceded Potawatomi Territory — setting the tone for a day grounded in respect and shared purpose.

DCC President and CEO Derrick Cheung highlighted our history and the impact of the work we deliver every day. The Honourable Jenna Sudds, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement and to the Secretary of State (Defence Procurement), and Board Chair Moreen Miller spoke to the importance of collaboration, reputation and a clear path forward.

For 75 years, DCC has delivered the infrastructure and environmental services that support the Canadian Armed Forces — at home and abroad.

This milestone is not just about looking back. It’s about building on that legacy and continuing to deliver with purpose.

Here’s to the year ahead!

Today’s the day! We’re celebrating DCC’s 75th anniversary with a kickoff event.

It’s great to see so many DCCers coming together at the NAC and from across Canada to celebrate 75 years of service, partnership and impact.

From coast to coast to coast and abroad, DCC’s legacy is built by its people. Today, we honour them and our history, celebrate the dedication of our teams, and look ahead with pride and purpose as we continue to bring our expertise and commitment to support Canada’s defence and security needs.

75 years. Countless projects. One shared purpose.

DCC is celebrating 75 years of impact, partnership, and service to Canada!

Since 1951, we’ve worked alongside the Government of Canada to help deliver defence infrastructure and support operations across Canada and abroad.

From airfields and dockyards to housing and community centres, to roads, water and sewer systems, and highly secure operational infrastructure, DCC has successfully delivered projects of every scale and complexity.

As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect not only on the history of our projects, but on the people — past and present — who have always been at the heart of that work.

Here’s to 75 years of DCC and what’s to come!

On Tuesday, May 19, our President and CEO, Derrick Cheung, joined partners at the groundbreaking for two major projects at Lielvārde Military Air Base, supporting Canada’s growing operational footprint and continued investment in Latvia.

These initiatives include Canada’s first dedicated flight line infrastructure project in Latvia, along with three permanent accommodation buildings to support Canadian troops with their day-to-day needs.

This critical work reflects DCC’s commitment to delivering for our defence partners, and we are proud to stand alongside the Canadian Armed Forces, Latvia and our NATO allies, to mark this important moment.

For 75 years, DCC has supported our defence partners across Canada and wherever our troops serve. We thank our partners, stakeholders, and the DCC team.

Together, we are strengthening security, readiness and partnership.
