Egyptian Canadian Coalition for Democracy The ECCD is a registered NGO, established in 2013 as an umbrella to coordinate activities of pro-democracy Egyptian Canadian groups in different provinces.

Against: Military coup, suspension of the constitution, any intervention by the military in the political process, state of emergency and curfews. For: the right to peaceful protests and sit-ins, the release of political prisoners. we
• refuse the Military coup and refuse the suspension of the constitution
• refuse any intervention by the military in the political process, regardless of any justification
• refuse imposing state of emergency measures and curfews
• demand the protection of everyone's right to peaceful protests and sit-ins
• demand the release of all political prisoners and the withdrawal of all politically motivated charges against them
• demand the appointment of an independent committee to investigate the police and army actions against peaceful demonstrators
• affirm that legitimacy can only be through the ballot box

We demand the immediate release of the tens of thousands of political prisoners in Egypt who remain behind bars for exercising their fundamental rights to freedom of expression, assembly, and political dissent.

Israel assassinated Mohammed al-Wahidi, senior official of the Egyptian Committee for Aid to Gaza, hours before the World Cup screening he organized for displaced families. This is not incidental — it's part of Israel's genocide in Gaza. Canada must end military ties with Israel now.

Over 150 people are currently detained in Egypt for demonstrating, organizing, or even donating to support Palestine since Israel began its genocidal assault on Gaza a little over two years ago, according to the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR).
