Contrast. It's a term most of us have heard before, but in photography, it's more than simply light and dark.

Here, Corporal Liam Stagg uses colour contrast to make vibrant colours stand out against muted tones, guiding the viewer's eye while creating atmosphere.

But colour is only one form of contrast in a photographer's toolbox... Can you think of others? 📸🎨

Le contraste : c’est un terme que la plupart d’entre nous connaissent, mais en photographie, c’est plus qu’une simple alternance entre l’ombre et la lumière.

Ici, le caporal Liam Stagg fait contraster les couleurs pour que les plus éclatantes ressortent par rapport aux plus sobres, guidant le regard de l’auditoire tout en créant une atmosphère particulière.

Cruising through , we slow down to spotlight the work of Master Corporal Alexandre Brisson and Corporal Alexander Ward.

For them, it's a pure appreciation of cars, and nothing more. Whether drifting, racing, or sitting still, each shot is an appreciation of a different side of a vehicle that is often pushed to the limit. Again, it's about cars... and, yeah, we snuck in cats too. 🤙

Alors que la file à vive allure, ralentissons pour faire pleins feux sur le travail du caporal-chef Alexandre Brisson et du caporal Alexander Ward.

Pour eux, il s’agit de pure passion automobile, et rien d’autre. Qu’elle montre une voiture en dérapage contrôlé, en pleine course ou tout simplement garée, chacune des photos met en lumière un aspect singulier d’un véhicule dont on repousse constamment les limites.

While Master Sailor Harvey planned, Corporal Nicholas Zahari adapted on the fly.

As a newly recruited Imagery Technician, then-Private Zahari was sent to Winnipeg on Operation LENTUS while awaiting his qualification training, where he quickly adapted to new demands.

On-the-job experience is common in the Canadian Armed Forces, but covering an operation of this scale as a new recruit is uniquely Combat Camera. 😎

Nouvelle recrue au poste de technicien en imagerie en attente de son instruction de qualification, Zahari, alors soldat, a été affecté à Winnipeg dans le cadre de l’opération LENTUS et s’est rapidement adapté aux nouvelles exigences.

A unique moment can last mere seconds but MS Harvey is there waiting for it. 😌

📷 Heard the news? 2026 is the year of analog, and we're plugging in 🕶️

Armed with a film camera, Corporal Mark Wanzel spent his off-hours capturing Constanța's historic streets the old-fashioned way.

These were shot on film 🎞️, developed in a darkroom ⬛, scanned digitally 💻, and uploaded to the mainframe. (Yes, we’re bringing back “mainframe.”)

Film photography is making a comeback for its thoughtful process and timeless look. Can you see a difference?

Also, what’s another classic word that deserves a comeback? (Really hoping to see "tubular" in the comments…👀)

Armé d’un appareil photo argentique, le caporal Mark Wanzel a passé ses temps libres à photographier les rues historiques de Constanța à l’ancienne.

Ces photos ont été captées sur pellicule 🎞️, développées dans une chambre noire ⬛, numérisées 💻et téléversées dans l’ordinateur central (oui, on ramène ce terme aussi!)

La photographie argentique effectue un retour en force, propulsée par son processus minutieux et son aspect intemporel. Percevez-vous la différence?
