Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides

Disability Employment Awareness Month - Meet Peter and his Hearing Dog Guide, Etta!

For Peter, Etta is more than a Hearing Dog, she helps make it possible for him to work with greater confidence and independence.

Before Etta, Peter often slept through alarms, making him late for school and work. Today, Etta wakes him every morning, helps him feel safer at home, and even travels with him overseas for work, including trips to Switzerland.

A Dog Guide can help open doors to greater independence, at work and in everyday life.

This , we’re celebrating the partnerships that help people pursue their goals and participate fully in the workplace.

Saturday, October 10, is World Mental Health Day. If you, like me, have a mental health issue and are doing well, speak up and help end the stigma.

If you are not doing well, keep seeking effective treatment. New methods are being developed all the time, including some here in Ottawa at The Royal.

DON'T GIVE UP. All you may need is a change of medication, psychiatrist, or counsellor. Early in my treatment, I needed to change all three. Getting treatment at The Royal has been life-changing.
