Danes so nas na veleposlaništvu z obiskom počastile tri izjemne 🇸🇮 slovenske literarne ustvarjalke: pisateljici Anja Štefan in Mateja Gomboc ter priznana prevajalka literarnih del iz finščine, estonščine in angleščine Julija Potrč Šavli.

Vse tri se udeležujejo Svetovnega kongresa IBBY v 🇨🇦 Ottawi (International Board on Books for Young People), ki na enem mestu vsako drugo leto združi eminentne ustvarjalce na področju mladinske literature 📚.

Hvaležni smo za prijazen obisk in zanimiv klepet o literaturi, pravljicah, kongresih IBBY, kulturi, 🐻 živalih in še marsičem drugem 😀

Today the embassy had the honour of hosting three exceptional figures from Slovenian literature: writers Anja Štefan and Mateja Gomboc, and Julija Potrč Šavli, a celebrated translator of literary works from Finnish, Estonian, and English.

All three are in Ottawa for the IBBY World Congress (International Board on Books for Young People), which brings together leading figures in children's and youth literature every two years.

We're grateful for their warm visit and the wonderful conversation — covering literature, fairy tales, past IBBY congresses, culture, animals, and much more.

Helicopters 🚁 Bell 412 have long been assembled and manufactured at its facility in 🇨🇦 Mirabel, Quebec, about 40 km northwest of Montreal. As an integral part of the Slovenian Army they have been helping also during the 🔥 wildfires in 🇸🇮 Slovenia 👏🏻

[EU BOOK CLUB, OTTAWA]

Anja Štefan in Mateja Gomboc sta včeraj v Ottawi oživili bogato slovensko literarno dediščino z navdihujočim kulturnim nastopom. Z vami delimo nekaj 📷 foto utrinkov z dogodka, ki je potekal v organizaciji Veleposlaništva Republike Slovenije 🇸🇮 v Ottawi 🇨🇦, pri projektu pa so prijazno sodelovali tudi EUNIC, EU Delegacija v Ottawi 🇪🇺 in seveda knjižnica v Ottawi (OPL). Hvala tudi osebju knjižnice Sunnyside, za vso pomoč in lepe prostore za naš dogodek.

Anja Štefan and Mateja Gomboc brought 🇸🇮 Slovenia's rich 📖 literary heritage to life in 🇨🇦 Ottawa yesterday during an inspiring and deeply engaging cultural showcase. We were happy to host also other Slovenian participants at the IBBY World Congress in Ottawa, currently taking place at the premises of Carleton University.

The EU Book Club 📚 offers a year-round celebration of contemporary European literature. It provides a welcoming space to discuss compelling works and occasionally engage directly with the authors. This initiative is proudly hosted under the auspices of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) 🇪🇺 in 🇨🇦 Ottawa, bringing together various cultural institutes and Embassies from across the European Union.

We are sharing with you a few📷photo highlights from the event, which was organized by the 🇸🇮 Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Ottawa; EUNIC, the European Union Delegation in Ottawa, and, of course, the Ottawa Public Library (OPL) also kindly collaborated on the project. We are thankful to the staff of the Sunnyside Library for all their help and the lovely venue for our event.

We thank everyone for coming to the library yesterday, we had a great time.
