In January, our Executive Director, Richard LeBlanc, celebrated 20 years working with the Centretown community. Starting as an outreach worker, Richard has seen the community through many roles and changes. We are so lucky to have such experienced and kind leadership at Centre 507. Thank you Richard!

With the heat and rain storms upon us, please keep an eye out for friends, neighbours, and community members who may be struggling.

If you see someone who needs a cool place to get out of the heat or dry place to escape the rain, remember that Centre 507 is air-conditioned and open daily. We offer a safe space to rest, cool down, dry off, access washrooms, charge devices, enjoy a meal, and connect with support services.

A big thank you to our staff and volunteers who make the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program possible.

To date, approximately three volunteers have assisted more than 255 individuals in filing their taxes through our program.

Many clients required multiple years of returns to be completed in order to bring their tax affairs fully up to date. In addition to tax filing, the program also helps clients request historical, archived benefit cheques that may not have been deposited or received.

To better meet community needs, we continue offering CVITP services year‑round as our volunteer capacity permits, ensuring support is available during urgent situations when proof of income is required.

While Centre 507 does not have dedicated housing workers, our staff regularly step in to help individuals navigate the complex process of finding and securing housing when needed.

Today, we're especially grateful to have helped someone secure upgraded housing and take an important step toward greater stability. Housing searches, applications, viewings, paperwork, move-in coordination, and connecting people to community resources can be challenging, particularly for those facing homelessness or other barriers.

Moments like these remind us that housing changes lives. Congratulations to our participant on their new home, and thank you to our staff for going above and beyond to make it happen.
