On 15th October 2026, Ambassador Geoffrey Kaituko met with Mr. Franklin Epape, Chief Executive Officer of Africa Development Network and Ben's Health Café, at the Chancery Building.
The discussions focused on diaspora empowerment within the framework of Canada's Africa Strategy, particularly opportunities to enhance diaspora engagement, foster entrepreneurship, promote investment, and leverage the African diaspora's contribution to sustainable development and stronger economic relations between Canada and Africa.
The two also discussed the forthcoming diaspora-led Impact Diaspora International Business Forum, scheduled to take place from 19th to 21st November 2026 at Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Canada. The Forum is expected to bring together distinguished dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps, Canadian Government officials, representatives from African countries, and members of the African diaspora to explore business opportunities, promote investment, and foster strategic partnerships.

Kenya–Canada relations were further strengthened yesterday as Amb. Geoffrey Eyanae Kaituko, Acting High Commissioner, held discussions with Hon. Yasir Naqvi, Parliamentary Secretary for International Trade and Development and Member of Parliament for Ottawa Centre.
The meeting underscored the importance of expanding market access for Kenyan products, promoting investment, and advancing cooperation in the energy sector. The two sides also explored opportunities for capacity building and knowledge exchange on regulatory and legislative frameworks. These priority areas reflect the shared commitment of Kenya and Canada to deepening bilateral relations, fostering sustainable economic growth, and advancing mutual prosperity.

Earlier this week, Amb. Geoffrey E. Kaituko,CBS, Acting High Commissioner, welcomed a delegation of technical officers from the ICT Division and Global Asset Management Directorate to the Kenya High Commission in Ottawa.
The technical team is supporting the Mission in upgrading its infrastructure and strengthening the management of its physical and digital assets. Yesterday, Amb. Geoffrey E. Kaituko,Acting High Commissioner, hosted Lara Dyer, Chief Solutions Officer (Americas) at Talent Beyond Boundaries, and Susan Namulindwa, Founder and Executive Director of Africa Trade Desk, for a consultation meeting at the Chancery.
The discussions focused on strengthening Kenya–Canada trade in goods and services, with particular attention to expanding imports of Kenyan tea into the Canadian market. They also explored opportunities for the transfer of trade-related skills and the role of labour mobility in connecting skilled Kenyan professionals with opportunities in Canada.
The engagement underscored the importance of building practical linkages between trade, talent and labour mobility in deepening bilateral economic relations and translating shared interests into tangible opportunities.

On September 15, 2026, Amb. Geoffrey E. Kaituko, CBS, Acting High Commissioner, joined government officials, diplomats, and private-sector leaders in Toronto for the Canada-East Africa Business Exchange (CEABEX) Conference.
Centered on agriculture, food systems, and technology, the event highlighted new pathways for trade, innovation, and cross-continental investment. Ms. Cheryl Urban, Assistant Deputy Minister, Global Affairs Canada, reaffirmed Canada's commitment to deeper trade engagement through the Canada-Africa Strategy and continued support for the AfCFTA. Amb. Kaituko highlighted Kenya's role as the premier gateway for Canadian businesses seeking access to East African and regional markets via the EAC and AfCFTA frameworks and pointed to Kenya's dynamic private sector as rich ground for partnership in value addition, agro-processing, agritech, and climate-smart agriculture.

Dr. Juma Mukhwana, CBS, Principal Secretary, State Department for Industry, Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, is in Canada as part of engagements supporting a Kenyan trade delegation visiting Toronto and Ottawa.
On 8th September 2026, the Principal Secretary presided over trade and investment engagements in Toronto, bringing together Kenyan and Canadian stakeholders to explore opportunities for enhanced commercial partnerships, market linkages and investment opportunities.
On 10th September 2026, Dr. Mukhwana held discussions in Ottawa with Mr. Pierre Diegane Kadet, Director, Climate-Resilient Food Systems at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC/CRDI). The discussions explored areas of mutual interest, including opportunities for collaboration in climate-resilient food systems, research and innovation, and related areas of cooperation.
Later the same day, the Principal Secretary presided over a business engagement in Ottawa hosted by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) in collaboration with the Black Chamber of Commerce. The engagement brought together Kenyan and Canadian private-sector representatives to explore opportunities for stronger business-to-business linkages. Discussions highlighted the role of industry and manufacturing in expanding bilateral trade, strengthening value chains and creating sustainable commercial partnerships between the two countries.
On 11th September 2026, the Principal Secretary led a delegation to Global Affairs Canada, where he held discussions with the Canadian side led by Ms. Cheryl Urban, Assistant Deputy Minister, Africa Branch and Pan-Geographic Affairs Branch, Global Affairs Canada. The Principal Secretary was accompanied by Amb. Geoffrey E. Kaituko, CBS, Acting High Commissioner; Amb. Isaiya Kabira, Secretary for Diaspora Investments, Skills and Entrepreneurship at the State Department for Diaspora Affairs; and officials from KNCCI and the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA).
The engagement focused on trade and investment, bilateral economic cooperation, and opportunities for advancing mutually beneficial commercial relations between Kenya and Canada. The discussions also provided an opportunity to exchange views on practical areas through which the two countries can strengthen private-sector engagement, investment flows and market access.
Culminating the official visit, the Principal Secretary presided over a meeting with Kenyan diaspora leaders and business owners at the Kenya High Commission Chancery in Ottawa. The discussions, led by Amb. Kabira, focused on positioning the Kenyan diaspora at the centre of Kenya–Canada cooperation and leveraging its networks, expertise, entrepreneurship and investment potential to strengthen trade, investment, skills and knowledge transfer, and people-to-people linkages between the two countries.

Kenya High Commission Engages Kenyan Diaspora in British Columbia

Continuing its outreach to Kenyans across Canada, the Kenya High Commission in Ottawa held a diaspora engagement on 5 September 2026 at Bear Creek Park in Surrey, British Columbia.
The engagement brought together members of the Kenyan community in British Columbia for an open and interactive exchange with Amb. Geoffrey E. Kaituko, Acting High Commissioner, accompanied by officials of the Mission.
Discussions covered a broad range of issues of importance to the Kenyan Diaspora, including access to consular services, diaspora welfare, trade and investment opportunities, skills and professional networks, and the contribution of Kenyans abroad to Kenya’s national development.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for members of the community to seek clarification on Government policies, share their experiences and raise pertinent issues affecting Kenyans living in Canada. The candid interaction underscored the importance of sustained dialogue between the Mission and the Kenyan Diaspora.
Amb. Kaituko encouraged members of the community to remain united, strengthen their networks and leverage their skills, expertise, experience and connections to create opportunities both in Canada and Kenya. He noted that the Kenyan Diaspora remains an important partner in advancing Kenya’s development priorities and deepening people-to-people ties between Kenya and Canada.
The Acting High Commissioner further emphasized that the Mission remains committed to taking consular services and diplomatic engagement closer to Kenyans across Canada, while creating stronger platforms for their participation in Kenya’s development.
The engagement in British Columbia reaffirmed the High Commission’s commitment to an inclusive and responsive diaspora diplomacy, and to strengthening the Kenyan Diaspora as an important bridge in advancing Kenya–Canada relations.

Deepening the Kenya–Canada Strategic Partnership 🇰🇪🇨🇦

Today, Ambassador Geoffrey E. Kaituko, Acting High Commissioner of Kenya to Canada, hosted a delegation led by Ms. Marcia Colquhoun, Director, East Africa Division, Africa and Pan-Geographic Affairs Branch, Global Affairs Canada.

The engagement provided an important opportunity for strategic consultations on the evolving Kenya–Canada bilateral partnership, with a focus on translating shared priorities into concrete outcomes.

Discussions covered political and institutional cooperation, trade and investment, technical cooperation and capacity building, as well as skills mobility and labour migration pathways in areas of mutual interest. The two sides also reviewed progress on ongoing initiatives and identified opportunities to accelerate implementation and strengthen institutional linkages.

Kenya and Canada share a strong foundation of friendship and cooperation. Our focus now is on deepening the partnership, expanding areas of mutual opportunity, and ensuring that bilateral engagements deliver tangible value to our two countries and peoples.
