The High Commissioner for Grenada to Canada His Excellency Sylvester Quarless joined Senator the Honourable Quinc Britton at the Spice Island Cultural Festival at Nelson Mandela Park, Montreal on Saturday July 11, 2026. The festival was held under the theme "Celebrate the Caribbean Spirit".

Part of celebrating the Grenadian spirit included performances from Grenadian Calypsonians and Soca artists including The Inspector and Kenny C.

Diplomacy in action 🤝:

On Thursday July 16, 2026, the Grenada High Commission hosted the first Grenada Diaspora Town Hall at 350 Sparks Street. His Excellency had the opportunity to formally introduce himself to attendees and to give a synopsis on the journey to establish a High Commission in Canada's capital city.

Discussions centered around the formation of an Association in Ottawa to enhance Grenada's presence here and how skills can be leveraged to assist in Grenada's transformational agenda.

During the session, an interim steering/co-ordinating committee was formed to mobilize more Grenadians in Ottawa to be involved in the establishment of a Diaspora Association in Ottawa.

Our next meeting is scheduled for September 2026.

These contributions will be displayed at our events, helping to showcase Grenadian craftsmanship and innovation to Canadian citizens including policy makers; the Grenadian diaspora; tourists; and friends of Grenada. Through these displays, guests will have the opportunity to discover the quality, creativity and unique nature of products made in Grenada!

Grenada's High Commissioner to Canada, H.E. Sylvester Quarless, joined Mr. Olaf Fontenelle, Head of the Eastern Caribbean Liaison Service (ECLS) to visit Verger Thompson's Farm in Quebec. This farm is owned and operated by Mr. Dean Thompson. They were joined by ECLS members: Ms. Sandra Bobb, Deputy Head and Mr. Edwin Pascal, Liaison Officer. Also, part of the delegation was Dr. Kisha Alexander-Grant, OECS Chief of Staff and Strategic Diplomacy Officer, stationed in St. Lucia.

The Eastern Caribbean Liaison Service (ECLS) is a specialized unit and operational arm of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission. ECLS is the main point of contact between farm workers from the OECS members and Canadian farms.

Over the past 20 years, Verger Thompson Farm has been employing Grenadian workers. Presently, there are 13 Grenadian farm workers employed there through the Canada Seasonal Agricultural Workers' Programme.

We want to thank Dean Thompson, the management and staff of the farm for their interest in employing our Grenadian workers and expanding opportunities for greater participation.

The Grenada High Commission looks forward to deepening this important partnership and to the continued success of the Seasonal Agricultural Workers' Programme in Canada.
