We’re excited to announce the launch of Grey County’s first ever “Name the Plow” campaign! ❄️ Winter is coming…and we need your creative suggestions to help give your local some personality as they tackle everything Mother Nature sends our way this upcoming winter season.

From now until October 22, you're invited to submit your best, funniest, and most creative names for the Grey County snowplow crew! After October 23, we'll share the list of top names and it will be up to you to for your favourites. Voting runs from October 23 - November 6. 🗳️

Let's have some fun with it. Is a good name 'punny'? Is it seasonal? Maybe it has some local flair? You get to decide!

The top names will be announced on November 10, with the top four entries winning a ! NEWS: Grey County is excited to announce the upcoming completion of its newest paramedic base in Feversham and welcome the community to a on Friday, October 23 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.! 🚑💙🚨

The base is located south of Feversham at 494140 Grey Road 2. The event offers community members a chance to tour the new facility, learn about paramedic services, and see firsthand how the base will benefit emergency healthcare delivery in the region. Guests can also see paramedic vehicles and equipment up close to learn more about how paramedics deliver care in an emergency. An official ribbon cutting will take place at 1:45 p.m.

“If you have ever wanted to see inside an ambulance, see inside a base, or ask a Grey County paramedic a question, this is your opportunity,” said Grey County Paramedic Services Chief Kevin McNab.

The new Feversham base provides a permanent home for paramedic crews serving the area.

The new facility was built by Domm Construction Ltd. The total cost of the project including professional fees and site preparation is $2.4 million.

It is one of four additional bases in Grey County’s capital and operational plans. Future bases are being considered for , and based on forecast population growth. The Paramedic Services Comprehensive Deployment Review projects a 68% increase in call volumes across Grey County between 2023-2033.

“When an accident or medical emergency happens, Grey County residents and visitors should feel confident help will arrive quickly,” said Grey County Warden Andrea Matrosovs. “Grey County is investing in our paramedic services not just to meet the needs of our community today, but for years to come.”

An update to the Comprehensive Services Review will be presented to County Council late this year or early in 2027.

Can you tell what's real and what's AI-generated?

Images, videos and text created by artificial intelligence (AI) can be found just about anywhere online — but if they’re not labeled, you may not even realize it. This can spread disinformation which is false information that is deliberately intended to mislead.

Learning how to identify AI generated content is key in making sure you’re not misled. Here are some tips to help you out.

Images – Watch for:
👋 Missing or misplaced objects or body parts (especially hands)
💡 Incorrect shadows and lighting
🔠 Text that doesn’t make sense or form real letters
✨ Humans who appear glossy or have unusual smooth skin or clothing
👁️Smooth, crisp images with heavily blurred backgrounds
Icons or text on an image indicating it was created with AI

Videos – Watch for:
👀 People who don't blink
⚡Shadows, blurs or light flickers where there shouldn’t be
🎵 Unnatural and flat tone of voice

NEWS: Residents calling 9-1-1 for a medical emergency will see changes beginning October 14 as the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) is implemented for the County of Grey region. The London Central Ambulance Communications Centre dispatches ambulances serving Grey County and is implementing the new system as part of the Ontario Ministry of Health's plan to modernize medical dispatch.

MPDS is an internationally recognized dispatching system that uses structured, evidence-based questions to assess the urgency of medical emergencies and determine the most appropriate response. The system will help ensure patients with life-threatening emergencies receive the fastest care possible.

Under the new system, callers may be asked more questions than they would have been under the previous dispatch model. These questions help dispatchers understand the patient’s condition and the details help provide paramedics with important information before they arrive.

As call volumes continue to increase in Grey County, will help prioritize ambulance response based on the severity of the medical emergency. Paramedics will continue responding and providing care for calls they are dispatched to, but response priority will be determined based on clinical urgency. The system will help to ensure ambulances are available for patients who need them most while maintaining emergency coverage through Grey County communities.

Grey County responded to more than 17,000 calls for service in 2025, the highest annual call volume in the history of the service. Effective deployment and prioritization have become increasingly important as call volumes continue growing.

“Grey County paramedics are committed to providing high-quality care to every patient we serve, while helping ensure ambulance resources are available when and where they are needed most,” said Grey County Paramedics Operations Manager, Jessica Robb. “Answering additional questions will not delay response. Instead, it helps ensure resources are deployed appropriately based on each patient’s needs.”

The implementation of MPDS doesn’t change when residents should call 9-1-1. Anyone experiencing or witnessing a medical emergency should continue calling 9-1-1 immediately.

Grey County invites residents to apply to serve as public volunteer members on the Grey County Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee (GCJAAC) for the 2027–2030 term of Council. ♿

The Committee advises Council on making municipal services and facilities accessible to everyone. This includes reviewing and commenting on:

• Grey County's multi-year accessibility plan and accessibility reports.
• How Grey County meets the municipal requirements of provincial accessibility standards.
• Site plans for projects selected by Grey County Council.

Applications are available at www.grey.ca/government/accessibility, or from the Clerk's Office, County of Grey Administration Building, 595 9th Ave. East, Owen Sound, ON N4K 3E3. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on November 15, 2026. Only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
