SHARE THE ROAD: Let's take a moment to appreciate the essential role agriculture plays in our lives, right here in Grey County! 🚜🌾🐮 Our dedicated farmers work around the clock to plant, grow, and harvest the food that ends up on our tables. This often means they need to share the roads with us. When you see a on the road, remember to slow down, be patient, and give them the space they need. Be sure to pass with caution and making sure the farm vehicle can see you. Large equipment could make left-hand turns or be going around cyclists, mailboxes, or guardrails. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone.

Did you know...?

🚜 Tractors are crucial for transporting farm equipment and produce, however they tend to move slower than regular traffic at only 40km/hr. They also stay off the road shoulders for optimal safety. Be kind, and share the road with our farmers.

NEWS: Ground has officially been broken for a new Grey County transportation services near Ceylon, west of Flesherton. Grey County Warden Andrea Matrosovs joined staff for a ceremonial groundbreaking at the site, which will be the base of operations for southeastern Grey County.

The new depot will include multiple drive-through bays for heavy equipment and fleet vehicles, a standalone storage building for salt and other materials, and dedicated lunchroom and meeting space. The facility will also be equipped to serve as a backup emergency operations centre if the Grey County Administration Building becomes inaccessible or unsuitable during an emergency.

“This new depot represents a long-term commitment to servicing southeastern Grey County and everyone who travels through this corner of the county,” said Grey County Warden Andrea Matrosovs. “Our roads connect communities and support daily travel and economic activity. This depot will strengthen our ability to keep our roads safe and well maintained.”

Construction on the site will continue through 2026 and into 2027 with some areas of the site being operation in time for the winter season.

Grey County currently operates out of a leased facility in Flesherton and has been exploring options for building a new depot in the area for several years. Grey County purchased the new property in 2025 and awarded the construction contract to Domm Construction Ltd. in March 2026 at a cost of $7,508,000.

The depot has been designed with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind, in alignment with the goals of the Grey County Climate Change Action Plan.

Grey County Transportation Services maintains a network of over 877 kilometres of county roads and 192 large structures including bridges and culverts.
