It's time for the Inglis Falls Arboretum Tree & Shrub Sales!

MANY species of native trees and shrubs will be available from the Inglis Falls Arboretum Alliance, including lots of white cedar, white spruce, red maple, silver maple, and oak this year!

Pay what you can! All proceeds benefit arboretum maintenance and educational programs. Cash or etransfer accepted.

When: Saturday mornings (9:00am - noon). September 5, 12, 19 & 26.

Where: Inglis Falls Arboretum Nursery (237897 Inglis Falls Road, south of Owen Sound).

Yesterday, we celebrated a significant milestone for conservation with the donation of the rehabilitated East Sutherland (Keppel) Quarry from Walker Industries.

We extend our sincere thanks to Walker for their extraordinary donation and commitment to environmental stewardship. The 50 acres of rehabilitated lands will support long-term sustainability of the area and enhance future recreational opportunities, including parking and trail connections to The Glen Management Area.

As the site continues to naturally regenerate and the quarry gradually fills with water, GSCA will use this time to thoughtfully develop a long-term vision for this unique landscape.

Karst landscapes form when water dissolves bedrock like limestone, creating features such as sinkholes, caves, and unstable ground. These systems can also affect drainage, and during heavy rainfall or snowmelt, underground channels may become overwhelmed, increasing the risk of sudden flooding.

These conditions create both ground instability and drainage challenges, so it is important to understand where karst features exist when planning development.

When a permit application is submitted for development in a karst-prone landscape, GSCA reviews karst mapping and technical studies to ensure new projects are located away from these natural hazard areas.

If you've visited Inglis Falls Conservation Area recently, you may have noticed the new viewing platform!

This addition offers another great vantage point to take in the beauty of this stunning 18 metre waterfall.

Please remember that accessing waterfalls from beyond official GSCA trails and viewing areas is both dangerous and prohibited. We ask all visitors to respect these safety measures and refrain from climbing on, sitting on, or crossing viewing platform railings and concrete barrier walls.

The fight against Phragmites continues at Bognor Marsh Management Area!

Yesterday, staff were out again cutting back this aggressive invasive plant along the shoreline and throughout the marsh.

Without ongoing management, Phragmites can quickly dominate wetland and shoreline habitats, crowding out native vegetation, reducing biodiversity, and impacting the ecological balance that many species depend on.

By tackling Phragmites year after year, this important stewardship work helps protect the health of Bognor Marsh and creates space for native plants and wildlife to thrive.

Visitor Notice: Inglis Falls Conservation Area

Please note that the lower viewing area at Inglis Falls Conservation Area will be temporarily closed for construction work this weekend and into next week.

The upper viewing area, viewing platform, and all trails on the property remain open.

Visitors are asked to please stay clear of the construction area.
