Halloween is just over a week away, Brant!

County of Brant Fire is excited to get into the spooky spirit and will be attending several community events across the County this week:

🎃Halloween at the Hall - County of Brant Station 6 (Onondaga)
Date: Sunday, October 25
Time: 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Location: Onondaga Fire Hall (734 Hwy 54, Brantford)

🎃 County of Brant Halloween Walk
Date: Friday, October 30
Time: 9:00 - 11:00 am
Location: Syl App’s Community Centre (51 William Street, Paris)
Ages: 0-6 years

🎃 Halloween at The Children's Safety Village of Brant
Date: Saturday, October 31
Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Location: 407 Elgin Street, Brantford

Construction continues to progress on Station 9 (North Paris) Fire Station, on Ann Wilson Way in Paris 🔥

The pre-engineered steel frame has now been delivered to the site, and crews are continuing to assemble the structure. Primary and secondary steel installation is approximately 50 per cent complete, giving the community a first look at the size and scale of the new station.

“We’re pleased to see the new Station 9 continuing to take shape,” said County of Brant Fire Chief Darren Watson. “This is an exciting milestone for our firefighters and the residents in the north end of the County. This new facility will provide our firefighters with the space, resources and support they need to respond to emergencies and serve the community.”

Another exciting milestone was reached this month with the completion of the watermain connection. The watermain successfully passed required testing and the final connection was completed.

Over the coming months, crews will continue work on the steel structure, landscaping and other key building components.

📆 The project remains on schedule for anticipated completion in Spring 2027.

The new North Paris Fire Station is part of the County of Brant’s Fire Master Plan (2021) and reflects the County’s ongoing investment in fire services and emergency response infrastructure to support firefighters and the community for years to come.

It was a busy September for County of Brant Fire, with 117 incidents responded to across our stations!

From fires and medical calls to motor vehicle collisions and other emergencies, our firefighters answered a wide range of calls throughout the month.

A big thank you to our volunteer firefighters for their continued dedication, the time they give to serving our community and their commitment to being there when it matters most. We appreciate all that you do!

📣 Fire Prevention Week ends. Battery safety doesn’t.

Fire Prevention Week may be one week on the calendar, but fire safety is something we think about all year long. The phones, laptops, tools, e-bikes, scooters and other devices we charge are part of everyday life, so knowing how to charge and use lithium-ion batteries safely matters every day, not just this week.

It’s been a great week getting out into the community and talking fire safety with you!

A big thank you to Cowan Health Hub, Tim Hortons on Rest Acres Road, Brant Sports Complex and The Windmill for hosting us. We appreciate you helping us spread the word and keep fire safety top of mind.

Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices we use every day. But when they’re damaged or used, charged or stored improperly, they can become a serious fire hazard.

🔥 Fire Prevention Week is almost over, but fire safety is important all year long!

Unplug your device when it is fully charged. Leaving it plugged in longer than needed can increase heat and stress on the battery.
