Pasadena Fire Rescue is saddened to learn of the passing of former Fire Chief Gerald Wight, who passed peacefully on August 16 at the age of 92.

Gerald dedicated 30 years of service to the fire department, including serving as Fire Chief. His commitment to public service extended throughout our community through his long career with the Town of Pasadena, where he served as Town Superintendent before retiring in 1995, as well as through his service as a volunteer ambulance driver.

Gerald’s legacy of service continues within our department through his grandson, Lieutenant Jeffrey Clarke.

On behalf of the officers and members of Pasadena Fire Rescue, we extend our sincere condolences to Lt. Clarke and the entire Wight family during this difficult time.

We thank Gerald for his many years of leadership, dedication and service to Pasadena.

E-scooters! Have your say either way on Strengthening Road Safety.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador wants your feedback on possible changes to the Highway Traffic Act. These changes would help keep the legislation current, effective and responsive to evolving road safety issues.

The consultation is open until Thursday, September 3, 2026. It will focus on four areas: e-bikes, e-scooters and other micro-mobility devices; car and booster seats for children; bicycle safety for children; and driving schools.

Our Canada Day fireworks have been rescheduled for Monday, August 3 at Pasadena Beach

Join us as we light up the sky and kick off Pasadena Days with a spectacular fireworks display. Fireworks will begin at dusk, weather permitting.

When you see a vehicle approaching with its four-way hazard lights flashing, it may be one of our volunteer firefighters responding to the fire hall. If it’s safe to do so, slow down, move over, and let them pass—those few seconds can help us get on the road and to someone in need even faster.
