🚨 Calling All Dog Walkers! 🚨

Our dogs have asked us to make this post because, quite frankly, they're wondering where everyone went.

Our shelter is currently full, and we've seen a significant decline in dog walkers over the past several weeks. Now more than ever, our dogs need volunteers to help get them out of the shelter and into the sunshine!

A walk is so much more than exercise for a shelter dog. It's a chance to explore, sniff all the things, stretch their legs, burn off energy, and spend some much needed one on one time with people. Walks help reduce stress, improve their mood, and leave them happier, calmer, and ready for a good night's sleep!

If you have some spare time, please consider stopping by. You'd be making a huge difference for our dogs and helping our staff too! There is nothing better than seeing a happy, relaxed pup after a great walk!

We're open 7 days a week from noon to 5 p.m. Spread the word, tell your friends, like and share our post! The dogs need you! Come by and make a dog's day, they'll be so excited to see you!

Our upcoming Psychological First Aid for Supporting Indigenous Communities workshop helps both Indigenous and non-Indigenous participants build the skills needed to provide inclusive and safe support in a disaster. During this workshop you will explore ways of offering support that balances western and Indigenous views using a person-centred lens. Register for the free June 18 workshop:

The Annual Indigenous Art Show is now showing at the Peace River Municipal Library. Stop by and view amazing art by talented located Indigenous artists, including beading, soapstone carving, painting, fish scale art, wood carvings, and more. If you're touched by what you see and would like to support the artists, consider purchasing some of the art for your personal collection to enjoy every day.
We'll also be hosting a gallery closing event on June 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, with bannock and stew, and a last look at the pieces.
Thank you to the Peace River Aboriginal Interagency Committee, Aspenroad Resources, and all of our amazing artists for being a part of the this year's show.

Another great event! 🧸 Great job Peace Region Family Resource Network. See you next year!

Join us for Canada Day!

We'll be launching fireworks to ring in the day and then spending an afternoon together celebrating.

The fireworks show will take place at 11:59 pm Tuesday, June 30, before an afternoon of games and fun in the green space outside the Baytex Energy Centre from 1-4 pm Wednesday, July 1.

Activities will include bouncy castles, face painting, balloon animals, and much more!

As in previous years, fireworks will be launched from the Lower West Peace Boat Launch area. For safety reasons, the boat launch itself will not be open for public viewing.

Please watch from a safe location outside the launch area and follow any posted signage or direction from event staff. There are lots of great locations to watch the fireworks from. Many people gather at Riverfront Park or watch from their vehicles. If you have pets, be conscious about their reaction to the noise.

So enjoy the fireworks, and then come out the next afternoon for an afternoon of fun. Hope to see you there!
