The nomination period for the 2026 General Local Election is now open and runs until September 11, 2026.

If you're considering running for Mayor, Councillor, or School Trustee, now is the time to review nomination requirements, access candidate resources, and submit your nomination package.

Village staff are available throughout the nomination period to answer questions, provide guidance, and assist with nomination packages.

Effective tomorrow, Friday August 28, at noon PDT the Off Road Vehicle (ORV) prohibition is rescinded in the Southeast, Cariboo, Coastal and Kamloops Fire Centres.

We recognize that ORVs play an important role in recreation, hunting and accessing the outdoors for many. Restrictions are only considered when multiple factors indicate an elevated wildfire risk, heightened wildfire activity and limited capacity to respond to new fire starts.

With improving conditions in some regions of B.C., and cooler wetter weather in the forecast we are now able to rescind these prohibitions. We continue to monitor wildfire risk and prohibitions may be implemented or rescinded as conditions change.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation shown by ORV users during this period. We know many riders take fire prevention seriously and recreate responsibly on established roads and trails. If you're returning to the backcountry, we ask for your support in reporting any new wildfires through our app or by calling *5555.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

The boardwalk replacement project continues to move forward, and residents can now see significant progress as crews remove the existing structure and prepare for construction of the new floating boardwalk. To accommodate this work, an additional trail closure is now in effect within the One Mile Lake trail system.

The new 8-foot-wide floating boardwalk will feature marine-grade aluminum framing, rotomolded HDPE flotation units, and a combination of cedar and fibre-mesh decking to enhance accessibility, durability, and user experience.

This important community project is supported by the Disaster Financial Assistance fund and the Speĺkúmtn Community Forest Legacy Fund, as well as contributions of $50K from the SLRD - Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, and the Trans Canada Trail Catalyst Fund.

Wildfire smoke is affecting or may affect parts of B.C. over the next 24 to 48 hours. Air quality impacts are expected to be moderate, with high forecast confidence.

Today, BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) officially declared the Signal Hill Wildfire (V30852) Out.

Since the wildfire was first discovered on July 15, significant progress has been made thanks to the efforts of BC Wildfire Service crews, emergency responders, partner agencies, Village & SLRD staff, and the cooperation of residents.

While the wildfire has been declared out, visitors are reminded that wildfire-affected areas can continue to present hazards, including danger trees, ash pits, unstable terrain, and rockfall hazards.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to check Trailforks for the latest trail status information and to report any trail damage or maintenance concerns they encounter via Trailforks.

⚠️𝐁𝐨𝐛'𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐩 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 due to slope stability concerns and will remain closed pending the completion and review of a geotechnical assessment.

🌳 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤? 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝

Whether you're visiting a playground, enjoying a picnic, walking your dog, or exploring local trails, we all play a role in helping keep our parks enjoyable for everyone. Here are a few reminders to keep in mind during your visit:

🗑️𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐲
• Don't overfill bins: Please ensure garbage bin lids can fully close to help prevent wildlife from accessing waste.
• Take excess garbage with you: If bins are full, please take any additional waste home for disposal.
• Keep bin areas clean: Make sure all garbage makes it into the bin and not around it.

🐕𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐃𝐨𝐠𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐡: Dogs must be kept on leash unless you're in a designated off leash area. This helps ensure a safe and positive experience for visitors, pets, and wildlife.

🥾 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬: Help protect sensitive habitats and reduce erosion by staying on marked trails.

🚸𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤: signs are in place to help protect visitors, wildlife, and park amenities. Please respect all posted signs and regulations while visiting.

🚗𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬: use marked parking spaces and avoid parking on grass, road shoulders, or other undesignated areas. Respecting parking areas helps keep parks accessible and safe for everyone.

The Slow Food Cycle returns to Pemberton on Sunday, August 16, bringing temporary travel impacts to the Pemberton Meadows area. As cyclists take to Pemberton Meadows Road for this annual community event, residents and visitors can expect increased cyclist activity and a temporary road closure throughout the day.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and review the travel information below.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰:

𝟗𝐀𝐌 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟎𝐀𝐌: Pemberton Meadows Road will remain open to vehicle traffic, with motorists sharing the road with cyclists. Please use extra caution and expect delays.

𝟏𝟎𝐀𝐌 𝐭𝐨 𝟑𝐏𝐌: Pemberton Meadows Road will be closed to vehicle traffic between Collins Road and the Lillooet Forest Service Road (FSR) turnoff.

Increased traffic volumes, cyclist activity, and parking demand can be expected throughout the community before and after the event.

Residents and visitors travelling in the Pemberton Meadows area are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during the closure period.

Please be aware that recreational off road vehicle use is now prohibited on Crown land within the Coastal Fire Centre and other affected regions of BC. This prohibition took effect at noon today (August 10, 2026). See the post below for details.

Given the scope and scale of wildfires currently burning in B.C., and to further protect public safety, recreational off-road vehicle use will be prohibited on Crown land in the Kamloops and Southeast Fire Centres, as well as parts of the Cariboo and Coastal Fire Centres. This prohibition is effective immediately, as of 12 p.m. (noon) on August 10, 2026.
