Kitchissippi Productions, along with Laurentian Valley and Festival Hall, is now offering a free theatre program for seniors. Participants/actors create vignettes/monologues to perform from their own personal stories, stories from Ottawa Valley history, etc. It is weekly from October to March. Introduced will be improvisation, tableau, monologues and other forms of theatre arts as the scripts are developed to perform in March. You will write, rehearse and then perform at Festival Hall.

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE:
STAFFORD THIRD LINE

Please be advised of a Temporary Road Closure within the Township of Laurentian Valley. Effective Wednesday October 14, 2026, at 9am, Stafford Third Line is closed between Ross Road and Mountain Road for a crossroad culvert replacement.

Detour route will utilize Ross Road, Stafford Second Line, Stoqua Creek Road, and Stafford Third Line.

Civic addresses between 1702 to 1864 can be accessed from Ross Road. Civic addresses between 1493 to 1701 can be accessed from Stoqua Creek Road.

No through traffic, including emergency vehicles, will be permitted in the work area.

It is anticipated that the road will reopen Friday October 16, 2026, by 3pm.

EXERCISING WATER MAIN VALVES & FLUSHING FIRE HYDRANTS NOTICE:

The Township of Laurentian Valley conducts water main flushing in the Spring and Fall of each year. This is done as part of a scheduled preventative maintenance program to help maintain good water quality and to improve water flow in your neighborhood. The Fall flushing dates are scheduled for the weeks of October 5th to 9th and October 12th to 16th, between the hours of 7:00am and 3:30pm.

As the Operators flush your area, you may experience a temporary reduction in water pressure. You may also see some colour and/or sand, or you may notice a slight change in the taste and odour of your water. These conditions are normal during flushing activities and only temporary. If you should experience any of these changes or if you see some cloudiness or rust colour water, we recommend you refrain from washing your laundry and flush the pipes of your home. Flushing of your home’s pipes is accomplished by opening your outside hose bib until it runs clear and has no noticeable taste or odour.

We regret any inconvenience the flushing might cause you. 🎃🍿 Spooky Movie Night Was a Great Success! 🍿🎃

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our 7th Annual Spooky Movie Night at the Skylight Drive-In on October 3! We had close to 250 vehicles join us for a fun-filled evening, and over 500 children come out to enjoy the spooky festivities! 👻

FALL LEAF & YARD WASTE COLLECTION:

Residents of the Township of Laurentian Valley are reminded how to handle the excess amount of yard waste and branches they may have this time of year.

Leaf & Yard Waste Collection
•Leaf and yard waste will only be collected on your regular collection day during the designated weeks. It is collected separately from other materials.
o Residents of Laurentian Valley – Weeks of October 12, October 26, November 9
o Note collection day change for residents of Pembroke and Laurentian Valley due to Thanksgiving Holiday
•Leaf and yard waste includes leaves, garden plants, grass clippings and hedge trimmings.
•Leaf and yard waste must be placed at the curb in reusable containers (lids off), cardboard boxes or paper leaf and yard waste bags.
•Leaf and yard waste in plastic bags (including plastic bags claiming to be biodegradable or compostable) will not be collected.
•Individual bag/container must not exceed 50 lbs (23kgs).

Branches
•Bundled branches will be collected with leaf and yard waste on the dates described above.
•Individual branches must be no more than 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter or 4 feet (1.2 m) in length.
•Bundles must be no more than 2 feet (0.6 m) in diameter and must not exceed 50 lbs (23kgs).
•Bundle branches with twine or other biodegradable string (no plastic or metal).

Green Carts
•Green carts will be collected on green cart collection days only.
•Green cart lids must be closed. Carts that contain items preventing the lid from closing will not be collected.
•Do not place bundled branches in your green cart as it causes processing issues at the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre (OVWRC).

Drop-off at Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre
•Leaves and grass clippings (loose or in paper bags) can be dropped off at OVWRC for no charge.
•Branches of all sizes, tree limbs and stumps will be directed to the brush pile at OVWRC and tipping fees will apply.
•Wood chips and sawdust will be directed to the wood pile at OVWRC and tipping fees will apply.

Once collected, leaf and yard waste is delivered to the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre where it is composted separately from regular green cart materials.
