Most reported animal bites involve a family pet. 🐕 Take steps to prevent animal bites:
🐾 Never leave small children alone with animals, even your own
🐾 Always keep your dogs on a leash while outdoors unless in designated dog parks
🐾 Never disturb animals that are sleeping, eating, caring for their young, or showing signs of illness
🐾 Do not approach a dog with a Yellow Ribbon or collar – give them space

👉️ Remember to ensure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations.

🚨 Parents of Grade 7 Students – Upcoming Vaccine Clinics!

RCDHU is visiting schools to provide Grade 7 vaccines – making it easier to keep your child up to date.

Grade 7 students can receive:
✅ Meningococcal vaccine
✅ Hepatitis B vaccine
✅ HPV vaccine

📝 A consent form will be sent home with your child. Be sure to sign and return it to your school so your child can participate.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. A day to raise awareness, reduce stigma, remember those lost to overdose, and recognize the importance of preventing overdose-related harms.

supports this work by:

✔️ Distributing naloxone, a life-saving medication that can temporarily reverse an opioid overdose.
✔️Providing outreach services across Renfrew County and District, bringing harm reduction supplies, naloxone, education, and support directly to community members.
✔️Connecting people to addiction treatment and other community supports.
✔️Sharing local drug toxicity alerts and harm reduction information to help keep our communities informed and safe.
✔️Encouraging people to not use alone and to use the National Overdose Response Service (NORS): 1-888-688-NORS (6677).
✔️Collaborating with more than 30 organizations through the Renfrew County and District Drug Strategy to reduce substance use-related harms through prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and community safety.

🐕 Animals often use body language to tell us when they’re uncomfortable—and it’s important we listen.

To help prevent animal bites:
✔️ Give animals space—especially those wearing yellow
✔️ Never disturb an animal that is sleeping, eating, caring for young, or showing signs of illness
✔️ Teach children to always ask permission before approaching an animal
✔️ Remember: even familiar pets can bite if they feel stressed or threatened

🟡 If you see an animal wearing a yellow ribbon, leash, or bandana, it’s a sign they need extra space. Yellow = CAUTION.
