Auto Theft Prevention Tips ❗️

Since March 1, 2026, eight motor vehicles have been reported stolen in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area. Three attempted vehicle thefts are also under investigation by police. The investigations are continuing and officers have recovered one vehicle in the port of Montreal. Toyota trucks and SUVs have been the primary targets, but all vehicle owners are reminded of the following vehicle theft prevention tips:

· Lock your vehicle and park inside a locked garage if possible

· Park a less valuable, or less targeted, vehicle directly behind a high-risk vehicle in the driveway

· Use steering wheel/brake-pedal locks, or vehicle immobilizers

· Upgrade home exterior lighting and consider video surveillance or hidden GPS trackers

· Store your key fob in a protective case within your residence

· Remove all valuables from the vehicle
