The October 16 grant application deadline is getting close! Charities and non-profit organizations are invited to apply for funding through our annual grants program.

Funding is available for projects, programs, operating expenses, and select multi-year initiatives that benefit communities across the South Okanagan Similkameen.

Pictured here is the Osoyoos Desert Centre, where accessibility improvements are being made for people with mobility challenges.

We are incredibly grateful to Cascadia Credit Union for their generous support of the SOS Wildfire Response Fund.

In the days following the wildfire, Cascadia Credit Union was among the first to reach out and ask how they could help. Their initial $10,000 gift, followed by an additional $5,000 contribution, brings their total support of the Fund to $15,000.

As a longstanding community partner and supporter of the Foundation, Cascadia Credit Union continues to demonstrate its commitment to the people and communities of the South Okanagan. Thank you for stepping forward so quickly to support those affected by the wildfire.

Our community foundation is proud to be part of the Impact Leadership Development Program partner group again this year! Applications are now open for 's 2026–27 Impact Storytelling cohort.

Most organizations know they have a good story. Few have a system for telling it well, consistently, across every audience that matters.

This cohort walks participants through that system step by step:

→ Anchoring your story in a theory of change

→ Developing audience profiles

→ Crafting key messages

→ Selecting evidence: qualitative, quantitative, and third-party

→ Ethical, consent-based data collection and sharing

→ Weaving it together: the hero's journey, evidence, and a call to action

→ Branding, information design, and broadcasting your story across channels
By the close of the program, participants walk away with audience profiles, impact headlines and indicators, data collection protocols, reusable storytelling templates, a presentation-ready impact report, and an internal guide for keeping the work alive.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, and September is Su***de Prevention Month.

Across the South Okanagan Similkameen, the Community Foundation is proud to support organizations and initiatives that strengthen mental health, wellness, recovery, and community care. Through the generosity of our donors, funding has helped support youth wellness services, recovery and peer support programs, caregiver support groups, counselling, and other services that help people navigate life challenges.

The following organizations are helping ensure that individuals, families, and caregivers have places to turn for support, connection, and hope—Canadian Mental Health Association SOS, Desert Sun Counselling & Resource Centre, Discovery House, Foundry Penticton, LSCSS - Lower Similkameen Community Services Society, OneSky Community Resources, South Okanagan Similkameen Mental Wellness Society, and South Okanagan Women in Need Society (SOWINS).

Let's continue building a community where no one has to face difficult times alone.
