South Okanagan Introductory Beekeeping Course 2025
The course provides an overview on how to get started in beekeeping. This course is for you if you:
• Are thinking of getting into bees
• Have recently started with bees but still have questions or would like to know more
• And/or anyone who does not want to have their own bee hives but are interested in these fascinating insects
Topics covered include:
• Rules and Regulations
• Honey bee biology
• Seasonal management
• Pests and diseases
• Rewards and contributions of honey bees
• Honey harvest
• And more…
Teacher:
• This course will be taught by Tim Bouwmeester
• Tim is a master beekeeper, BCHPA certified instructor, owner/operator of Desert Flower Honey and works for the Ministry of Agriculture as an Apiary Inspector for south Okanagan, Similkameen and western Boundary areas

Other details about the course:
• Will take place in Tim’s honey house at 1250 Naramata Rd in Penticton
• 21 hours theory in the honey house
• Tuesdays 6 to 9 PM, starting February 25 to April 8
• Four hours in the field working bees
• Maximum 12 students
• Cost $325
