Rotary Club of Penticton The Penticton Rotary Club consists of a group of women and men who enjoy meeting weekly for fellowship & support in serving our local and global community.

Like all Rotary Clubs, we belong to an international network of 1.2 million members in over 53,000 clubs in over 200 countries. We have just recently taken on a brand new local project. The Penticton Rotary Club is partnering with School District 67 to create a program focused on enhancing mental wellness amongst youth in the community. The goal of the program is to reduce the stigma attached to mental health issues through open dialogue and community support as well as create resources for youth, parents and teachers to contribute to mental wellness.

📸 Summerland Fire Photo Challenge!

Club Sheriff Bill Brody took the floor at last week’s meeting to share an exciting community project. Bill is working with a group at the Summerland Museum to create a real-time photo exhibit documenting the Bald Range Fire and how our community came together to support one another during those challenging days.

The community will be invited to submit photos taken during the 12 days of the fire and evacuation through a dedicated app, helping to capture this important chapter in Summerland’s history.

Bill walked us through how to use the app, upload our photos, and learn how the submission process will work. We became a bit of a test lab, which gave Bill a chance to identify a few glitches and work out some kinks along the way!

Of course, what’s a club challenge without a little friendly competition? With a Lobster Feast T-shirt up for grabs, Bill challenged us to see who could submit the most photos. And the winner? There was a clear-cut champion! 🏆

What a great way to preserve our community’s memories, recognize the incredible support shown during the fire, and ensure these stories are never forgotten. ❤️📷

🎉 Congratulations to our Club President, Harpreet Sidhu, on receiving the Rotary District 5060 Unsung Hero Award! 🎉

Harpreet’s heartfelt dedication to supporting evacuees during the devastating Bald Range Fire, which impacted Summerland and Faulder, truly exemplifies the spirit of Service Above Self. Even while facing evacuation herself, Harpreet remained steadfast in her commitment to ensuring that members of her community were cared for and supported during an incredibly challenging time.

Her compassion, selflessness, and tireless efforts have made a meaningful difference in the lives of others, and we are so proud to see her dedication recognized with this well-deserved honour.

Congratulations, Harpreet! Your leadership and generosity are an inspiration to us all. 💙💛

Saturday night was a social event for members of the Rotary Club of Penticton, with special guests from the Summerland and Penticton Sunrise Rotary clubs. The Tri-City Americans were in town to play our Penticton Vees. It was Summerland Strong Night and the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers who worked so hard during the horrific Bald Range wildfire near Summerland were recognized by the team, and all Summerland residents received half-priced tickets for the game.
Our group was lucky enough to watch the game from the SOEC’s "Party Deck," where we had VIP seating, our own bar, and great snacks provided by Hek Yeah Media. We had a terrific time, and the Vees came away with the win!

Rotary fellowship at its finest! ❤️⚙️
Club member Peter Graham, along with fellow members Andrew and Tracey Bitcon, proudly represented our club at the District 5060 Success Summit in Osoyoos this past weekend.
Hosted by District Governor Jill Leonard, the summit was an incredible opportunity to learn, collaborate, and grow. Sessions covered everything from Assistant Governor training and Club Membership to The Rotary Foundation and Global/District grants. A huge thank you to The Watermark Beach Resort for fueling the day with fantastic hospitality, coffee, and a delicious lunch! ☕️🥪
The energy was truly inspiring as members came together to share ideas, tackle challenges, and create lasting solutions.
The weekend was made even more special starting Friday evening at the Hearts Across Borders Celebration Dinner. We are thrilled to celebrate that the district officially reached its incredible $1 million USD fundraising goal for The Rotary Foundation! 🇨🇦🇺🇸✨

September in the Okanagan is truly splendid! ☀️
The sun was shining so brightly for the Rotary Club of Penticton lunch meeting last week that we took full advantage of the gorgeous weather and held our session completely outdoors at the Rusty Anchor (293A Marina Way).
We were thrilled to welcome Gary Strachan, Head Scientist at Crush Dynamics, as our guest speaker. Gary took us on a fascinating deep dive into the science of w**emaking, educating our members on the traditional process of creating a pink Pinot Gris.
While this technique isn't widely used today, it is making a fantastic comeback. A few local w**eries are reviving the old Italian “ramato” method—extending skin contact during production to create a beautiful, rosy-pink colour and a uniquely textured flavour profile. 🍷
To make the meeting even better, we enjoyed tasting some incredible samples from Nichol Vineyard, poured by none other than our Club President, Harpreet Sidhu.
Thank you to Gary for sharing your expertise, and to everyone who joined us for a perfect afternoon of fellowship, learning, and local w**e!
