Night paving operations scheduled for Highway 511

Thomas Cavanagh Construction Company Limited is scheduled to begin overnight paving work on Highway 511 from 800 metres south of Campbell's Road continuing north for 3.4 km.

The night paving operations will begin the evening of Tuesday, May 26 and continue overnight on Thursday, May 28 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night.

Work crews will be active during overnight hours to complete asphalt paving with minimal impact to daytime traffic. During this time, one lane will remain open to traffic. A pilot vehicle will be in operation to safely guide vehicles through the construction zone.

“Motorists are reminded to exercise caution, follow signage and flagging personnel, and expect minor delays,” said Public Works Manager Sam Poole. “The County appreciates your patience and cooperation.”

REDUCE SPEED IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES: Designated construction zones are established to reduce speed limits as a preventive measure to protect the safety and well-being of workers and motorists. The Highway Traffic Act gives municipalities authority to designate construction zones on roads in their jurisdictions and provides the ability to double fines for speeding in designated construction zones when workers are present. This makes it easier for municipalities to reduce enforceable speed limits.

Once designated by an authorized individual, a construction zone must be marked with signs in accordance with the regulation.

Please slow down and observe posted speeds in designated zones. Stay safe!
