It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Sergeant Alexander Morland on September 28, 2026.
Sgt Morland was an Infantryman who had been serving with 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (1 RCR) since 2007. During his service, he deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 as a driver and later deployed to Ukraine on Operation UNIFIER on March 9, 2018.
Alex was loved by everyone at 1 RCR. He had a great sense of humour and always knew how to make people smile. He took pride in his work and carried out his duties with dedication. His presence brought laughter and camaraderie to those around him, and he will be deeply missed by the many people who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
Away from work, Alex loved hockey and, above all, his family. He shared a close bond with his parents and brother, and his love for his family was an important part of who he was.
Our thoughts are with Alex's family, his parents, friends, and all those who knew and loved him during this difficult time.
