Spend a relaxing day exploring the beautiful waters of Grand Lake in the Achray area of Algonquin Provincial Park. 🌱

Paddle through scenic wilderness, enjoy the fresh air, and connect with fellow participants on this guided day trip. Participants will canoe in pairs, with all equipment provided, including the canoe, paddles, and lifejackets. Our route and total paddling distance will be determined by weather conditions on the day, with an expected round-trip distance of approximately 4-6 km. We'll stop partway through the paddle to enjoy a bring-your-own picnic lunch, take time to relax and soak in the natural surroundings, and then continue our journey back. Paddling experience is required, as participants should be comfortable paddling a canoe for several kilometres and spending an extended period on the water.

More from AMO 2026!

Mayor Gary Serviss and CAO Colin Howard met with Natalie Pierre, Parliamentary Assistant to Ontario’s Minister of Sport, to discuss opportunities to support future recreation infrastructure in Petawawa.

The conversation focused on potential provincial funding for an 8-lane rubberized running track and a combined cricket/soccer facility — two projects aimed at meeting the recreational needs of our growing community.

Whether you're planning a day trip or a multi-day wilderness adventure, this full-day, hands-on workshop will help you build the skills and confidence to "stay found". 📍

Join wilderness leader Fred Blackstein for an engaging day of practical learning designed to help you become more confident navigating the wilderness. Through hands-on activities and real-world instruction, you'll learn practical trip planning, how to navigate using topographic maps and a compass (with or without GPS), and develop other essential wilderness skills. Rather than focusing on what to do after becoming lost, Fred teaches the philosophy of "staying found", building the awareness, confidence, and decision-making skills to help you travel safely and confidently in the wilderness from the moment your adventure begins. Whether you're looking to sharpen your existing skills or learn something new before your next wilderness adventure, this workshop offers practical knowledge you can put to use right away.

A catered lunch is included, and all equipment required for the workshop will be provided. Admission is by donation to the Petawawa Pantry Food Bank (accepted at start of program).

The Town appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this routine maintenance work is completed.
