🚧 Public Information Centre - Lakefield Bridges Rehabilitation

Peterborough County is inviting residents to learn more about the Lakefield Bridges Rehabilitation Project at an upcoming Public Information Centre.

The design for the project will be on display, along with information about the traffic restrictions. Construction is scheduled to start in 2027.

Slow Down. School Zone Ahead 🚸 🚌

The first day of school is almost here, and that means more school buses, crossing guards, and students are walking, cycling or driving on our roads.

This back-to-school season, Peterborough County, Provincial Police - Central Region and the Police Service are once again working together to keep school zones safe with increased traffic enforcement.

Here’s what drivers need to remember:
1️⃣ You must stop for school buses with red flashing lights – no exceptions.
2️⃣ Slow down – speeding in a school zone comes with fines and demerit points.
3️⃣ Obey crossing guards – wait until they are fully off the road before proceeding.
4️⃣ Give at least one metre of space when passing cyclists.
5️⃣ Drivers on multi-lane undivided highways (Example: Highway 7 or County Road 18 (Chemong Road)) must stop for stopped school buses when their overhead red signal lights are flashing. This applies to BOTH directions of traffic on roads without a median or physical barrier separating opposing lanes.

🚸 This school year, let’s work together to make sure every student gets to and from school safely.
