We have a very exciting guest speaker coming to Peterborough on Thursday October 23rd, at 4pm in the Sadleir House Lecture Hall.

Tanille Johnston is running to be leader of the federal NDP. She is an Indigenous woman from We Wai Kai First Nation, a city councillor in Campbell River on Vancouver Island, and former federal NDP candidate for North Island-Powell River. If elected, she would be the first Indigenous person to lead a major federal party in Canada.

Lots happening this October

- Legal education talk with the PDLC this Friday, Oct 3rd, 2-4pm in the Sadleir house lecture hall

- Club meeting on the 14th, 6:30pm, Saldeir house board room

- An in person talk with Tanille Johnston, federal NDP leadership candida, Oct 23rd, 4pm, Sadleir House lecture hall

- Club executive by elections, at 6:30pm, in the Sadleir House lecture hall. If you’re interesting in being on our committee, reach out!

- breakfast club continues every Saturday morning, 9:30am to 12pm. Follow us on insta to get updates on which room in Saldeir house it will be in each week

- the local party is starting to run weekly office hours to get work done. 5pm - 8pm on Wednesdays. Message us for the location

Hey everyone!! We will be holding an awesome event with lawyers from the Peterborough Community Legal Centre on the various areas of law they practice such as housing, employment and social assistance. They’ll be speaking to information that is specific to the issues that youth and students often experience so it will be super informative. Make sure not to miss this very important event!

Details:
- October 3rd from 2-4pm
- Held in the lecture hall at Sadlier House
- This is NOT an event to get personal legal advice. Only general information will be provided which will not be specific to individual legal issues.

Ontario NDP convention was genuinely such a blast. We hung out a ton with our friends from the other youth clubs, talked to labour activists and politicians, met many of the candidates running for federal party leader, added important policy to our party platform, heard tons of great speeches from guest speakers and party members debating policy issues, elected new people to the party executive and the various committees, and we attended lots of great social events!

Join us tomorrow (September 9th) for our first meeting of the academic year!! We’ll start off at 6:30pm in the Sadlier House boardroom (751 George St N) to hold our regular meeting. Afterwards we’ll head to The Social Pub (295 George St N) in time for trivia night!!

Breakfast club is returning to Sadleir house in the lecture hall!

Every Saturday morning, 9:30am-12pm. Always free.

Our first session back in Saturday, September 6th.

You can either knock on the glass door that enters the lecture hall directly from outside, ring the doorbell at the from or side door, or register your Trent Card with Saldeir house on their website which will allow you to scan your card to gain access at the front and side doors.

Got a ton planned this September

-Labour Day at Nichols Oval was fantastic as usual

-Breakfast club is every Saturday, 9:30am-12pm in the Sadleir House Lecture Hall. It’s completely free so come hang out and get some food

-We’ll be at Clubs and Groups Day in the Student Centre on Monday, Sept 8th, 10am-3pm

-Our monthly club meeting is in the Sadleir House Lecture Hall on Tuesday, Sept 9th, at 6:30pm. We’ll hit the bars downtown afterwards

-During breakfast club at 11am on September 13, we will give a presentation on the history and principles of the NDP to people new to the movement

-Tuesday, September 16th at 7pm-8:30pm, we will have a watch party to listen in to Heather McPherson’s townhall with the Carleton Uni NDP. McPherson is a candidate in the federal NDP leadership election. Location TBD

-Thursday, Sept 18th, delegates from the club will head to Niagara Falls to attend Ontario NDP convention and will return on the 21st

-Saturday, Sept 20th, the draw the line rally for people, peace, and planet will take place at city hall at 10am

-Saturday and Sunday, Sept 20 and 21, is the Curve Lake Pow Wow

-Saturday, Sept 27th, we will be marching in the Peterborough Pride Parade, starting at 1pm
