Yesterday, Sol Zia and Rob Hatfield attended PTBO Forward, organized by Century 21 United Realty and hosted at the Peterborough Golf and Country Club. We were incredibly happy to see PKHBA member McLaren of Parkview Homes speak on a panel on the new CCPS, as well as Kevin Duguay, who recently spoke at our industry lunch.

PTBO Forward is a high-profile, collaborative initiative in Peterborough that brings together developers, realtors, city planners, and economic development leaders to discuss the region’s rapid growth. It aims to provide clarity and collective impact on the city’s future, such as the major arena project and municipal planning.

The movement and related discussions spanned a few major themes shaping the city, including strategic city building, with discussions focused on residential expansion, employment-land decisions, and planning for the projected 41% population growth by 2041, and major infrastructure, with discussions focused on the path forward for major city infrastructure—like the city’s new arena project, which pre-committed $57 million in funding—as well as asset management and high-speed rail proposals.

Despite a hot, busy day for home builders, renovators, suppliers and contractors across the Peterborough and Kawarthas region, it was a full house for the PKHBA’s first-ever Government and Industry Luncheon! As part of the celebration, attendees enjoyed insightful content and commentary from Natalie Raponi, Bonnie Clark, Rob Hatfield, Curtis Mercer, Kevin Duguay, Scott Andison, and Sol Zia.

Said Rob Hatfield, Chair of the PKHBA, “For PKHBA members and partners, it really brought home the vital work that HBAs do with respect to advocacy and lobbying. I’m proud of not only our HBA, but all those across Canada who bring change to Government policy that will support home building and major renovation”.

“As moderator and MC, it was exciting to see how engaged all guests in attendance were! We actually went 30 minutes over schedule, and no one batted an eye, which shows the power of timely and high-relevance content. We are excited for our members to continue to see the value of the advocacy work we do,” remarked Sol Zia.
