YES works to reduce and prevent homelessness by providing shelter, education and transitional supports for youth and families in Peterborough and the Kawarthas. In addition to emergency housing, we offer support to youth and families through:

Life skills training

The Carriage House alternative classroom (in partnership wit

h PCVS and the KPRDSB)

Four years and counting! Our partnership with the Institute for Studies in Global Prosperity just keeps growing, and so does the difference it makes.

A couple of weeks ago, their students rolled up their sleeves for cleanup, garden prep, and painting, as well as making sandwiches for our At the Door program.

Zahra usually lends her time to our food program, but last week she stepped into our Carriage House Drop-In to share a different gift; beautiful henna designs for clients and staff alike!

Watching everyone's hands and arms transformed with her intricate art brought so much joy to the space. Thank you, Zahra, for sharing your talent and your heart with our community 💙❤

More Than Just a Safe Space - your 2025-26 Impact Report is here!

Your 2025 Impact Report captures a year of challenges, progress, perseverance - and, most importantly, the incredible difference made possible when our community comes together. Today's stop on the tour: our Prevention & Diversion, a part of our Outreach Program.

This program reaches youth at the earliest signs of housing instability, connecting them with housing, mental health, education, employment, and community supports before a crisis becomes homelessness.

Using a strengths-based approach, our team helps youth find safe alternatives to shelter, whether that's rebuilding family relationships, strengthening support networks, or securing stable housing. Every young person who stays safely housed is a future made brighter. Investing in prevention today means less need for emergency shelter tomorrow.

We need your help!

When youth and families arrive at our emergency shelter, they often come with nothing, having left situations where they couldn't bring even the basics with them. We want every person who walks through our doors to have access to simple dignity items from day one.

Right now, we're specifically asking for:
🧼 Deodorant - all sizes
🦷 Toothbrushes - all sizes
🦷 Toothpaste - all sizes

With 30 shelter spots, we're hoping to stock up enough for 30 individuals, so every new arrival has what they need waiting for them. These small items make a big difference for someone starting over. If you're able to donate, every bit helps our youth and families feel cared for and human during a really difficult time.

Today we're sending a HUGE thank you to Trent Valley Honda for their incredible $1,000 gift! These proceeds came from a charity food truck day featuring delicious eats from Agave By Imperial.

This gift will directly support YES' various programs, helping youth and families find stability. Community support like this helps us keep showing up for youth and families in our community. Thank you!

🌿 A plentiful harvest means full tummies! 🌿

Huge thanks to Trent Vegetable Gardens for their incredible support this summer season! They've donated pounds and pounds of fresh produce... including basil, swiss chard, dill, squash, and more, straight from garden to plate.

This generous produce is showing up in our shelter meal program AND going home with youth and families in their food boxes, so they can create their own delicious meals too.

Community grown, community fed. Thank you TVG!
