We are so saddened to share that we have lost an amazing member of our Kawartha Food Share family.

Al Davies was more than just a volunteer. He was an advocate, mentor, supporter, and most importantly, friend. You’d be hard pressed to find someone in our community who didn’t know of Al. While we’ve been fortunate enough to have him apart of our team for the last 12+ years, he also spent his time volunteering with many other community organizations, coaching hockey, teaching young minds, and being an incredible husband, father and grandfather.

Al was always there when you needed him. Volunteering at food drives, collecting weekly grocery donations, delivering porch pirate flyers, recruiting volunteers to assist with our mission, and bantering with our staff about the Blue Jays and Leafs. He made everyone feel important, and was always there to lend an ear and offer some friendly advice. He was a selfless man who cared deeply about his family and community and we are all better people for knowing him.

Al will have a lasting impact in our hearts, warehouse and community and we miss him dearly already.

A celebration of his wonderful life is taking place this Sunday, June 28th from 1-4 at the Peterborough Golf and Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Peterborough and KFS in Al’s name would be greatly appreciated by his family. 🤍

🥍What a Night for the !🥍

Big W for the Lakers against the Brampton Excelsiors last night—the team brought the heat and the fans matched it! 🔥

Our incredible community and lakers fans came together and donated over 600 lbs of food to support KFS at the food drive last night 💙 Additionally, the organization generously donated $1,000 towards food purchasing!

This is what the Lakers Nation is all about, showing up for each other on and off the floor.
Thank you to everyone who donated food items and thank you to the Lakers for your continued support of KFS and the community! ❤️💙

The take on the Brampton Excelsiors tonight, 8pm at the and we will be collecting food donations for KFS before the game!

We will have our donation bins set up inside all of the PMC entrances. We are so grateful for all donations from our incredibly generous community! We would especially appreciate:

-tuna 🐟
-children’s school snack items 🧃
-fruit cups 🍊
-peanut butter 🥜
-cereal 🥣
-pasta and pasta sauce 🍝

Our friends at STC Bus Lines will be hosting a Burst the Bus Food Drive in support of Kawartha Food Share this Saturday May 9th!
The food drive will take place at Greg’s No Frills, Metro, FreshCo on Lansdowne, Norwood Foodland, and Omeemee Foodland from 11am-2pm. Any and all donations of non-perishable food would be greatly appreciated. Let's see how full we can get these buses! Thank you STC for your continued support! 😄🚌
