St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church is Peterborough’s oldest church. The church was built of Jackson Creek limestone in 1835-37 and is one of the earliest examples of Gothic Revival architecture in Ontario. Sadleir House is opening their doors once again on Saturday, September 12th as part of the Doors Open event! Built in 1892 for industrialist James Kendry, Sadleir House is a striking Queen Anne home that was once the heart of Trent University’s Peter Robinson College. Now run by the not-for-profit P. R. Located on the ground floor of the historic Peterborough Armoury, the Peterborough and County Military Museum is inviting guests to come and explore the museum on Saturday, September 12th as part of the City of Peterborough's Doors Open event! Breaking News! The Old Examiner Building will be participating in this year's Doors Open event on Saturday, September 12th! Built in 1875 in the Italianate style, the Old Examiner Building was home to the Peterborough Examiner from the 1880s through the 1930s. During Doors Open, visitors are invited to step inside this historic landmark and explore its new life as the modern offices of B&A Landscape Architecture and EcoVue Consulting.

One of 2 local churches participating in this year's Doors Open even is the Murray Street Baptist Church. The Baptist congregation first gathered in a chapel here in 1846 and it has since gained a reputation for offering emergency shelter, food and clothing to those in need.
