While it’s rare, hearing loss in babies can happen. That’s why Ontario offers its to screen newborns for potential problems. It’s a simple, easy test that is best done when a baby is sleeping. Call it sound advice + peace of mind for new parents + their baby.

If a problem is found, help is here. Watch 📽 our Speech-Language Pathologist Diane Waseleko explain the steps to support that are available for a child + their family.

This makes our day!!

Exciting Progress at Jude’s Joy – Ennismore Inclusive Playground! 🌳♿🎉

The finish line is in sight for the new Jude’s Joy – Ennismore Inclusive Playground at Ennismore Waterfront Park!

Since our last update, several major milestones have been completed:
✔ Rubberized playground safety surface installed
✔ Pathways and parking lot paved
✔ Parking lot line painting completed
✔ Final landscaping completed
✔ Playground inspection passed

With these key elements now in place, the playground is looking fantastic and is one step closer to welcoming children and families of all abilities.

The final phase of work includes the installation of additional amenities such as picnic tables, benches, and waste receptacles to help complete the park experience.

This exciting community project has been made possible through the dedication of community partners, volunteers, donors, and supporters, including support from the provincial government's Ontario Trillium Foundation.

The park and playground will be opening soon. Keep an eye on our social media channels and website for the official opening date—we can't wait to welcome you!

⚽🥅🏆The world is here, as soccer’s kicks off. As we cheer on Canada in its opening match today, our Therapeutic Rec team Colleen + Caitlin encourage us to get in the (beautiful) game too. They’ve flagged this great resource from our friends at Active for Life describing pickup and how the whole family can get playing.

Fun, fitness, family + friends ...now that’s a can all get behind!

– What started as a friendly wager between two Five Counties employees to see which team -- Montreal or Buffalo – would win its NHL playoff series ⛸️🏒 turned into the 🧊 Ice Puck-et Challenge fundraiser this week at our all-staff meeting. The side whose team lost the playoff series would have their heads dunked with ice water – courtesy of their opponent. In the end, the real winners were our kids/clients, as the Ice Puck-et Challenge raised $374 to support the kids’ snack program at Five Counties sites.

TY to ❤️ to our staff participants... Aran, Sean, Tricia, Josh, Amy, Meghan + Bill for being good sports getting dunked (or doing the dunking). We also appreciate everyone who came out to watch, donate and show their support!
