We love our Prince Edward County for its beauty, but behind the scenic views, many of our neighbours are facing a crisis. 🌊🌾

With the rising cost of living and limited rental stock in PEC, housing insecurity is a reality for many local individuals. Kate’s Rest was founded to ensure that those who call the County home aren't forced to leave it.

We provide permanent housing for people who live in this community. By supporting Kate’s Rest, you are supporting a neighbour who might otherwise have nowhere else to go.

💛 Companionship of Empowerment is nurtured at Kate's Rest on Big Island in Prince Edward County — where respect, responsibility, and encouragement guide how we live and work together.

Through shared tasks and side‑by‑side support, residents move from receiving help to offering it, growing confidence and community along the way.

When most people think of helping those in need, they think of charity. Charity is often a one-way street: one person gives, and another person receives. While this comes from a good place, it can sometimes make people feel like they are stuck waiting for help rather than moving forward.

True resilience starts with a permanent place to call home. It’s about more than just a roof—it’s about community, sustainability, and the dignity of purpose.

Right now, one of our residents is busy on-site, completing the floor installation in his future home. This isn't just construction; it's the first step toward a stable, independent future rooted right here in Prince Edward County.

Together, we’re building more than houses—we’re building a holistic solution to housing insecurity in Ontario.

Big news at Kate’s Rest! 🦽

A brand‑new wheelchair ramp is being generously donated by the Rotary Club of Wellington, Ontario, helping us make our community more accessible, welcoming, and safe. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to community care and inclusion.

At Kate’s Rest, our vision is built on the belief that everyone deserves the dignity of a permanent home and a place where they truly belong. We don't just provide housing; we foster a supportive environment where residents are encouraged to participate productively in the life of the community.

This Thanksgiving, our hearts are full.
Each month, volunteers from Friendship United Church bring warmth and nourishment to Kate’s Rest through the delicious dinners they lovingly prepare for our residents.

In the spirit of giving thanks, our residents turned the tables — preparing a special Thanksgiving dinner to celebrate and honour these incredible volunteers. It was an evening filled with laughter, good food, and the kind of connection that nourishes the soul.

We’re deeply grateful for the Friendship United Church community and for all who help make Kate’s Rest a place of belonging and hope.
