Nominations are officially open for the 2026 Premier's Awards for Indigenous Youth Excellence in Sport. Do you know a deserving Indigenous athlete 24 or younger who shows amazing leadership on and off the field?

Last year, recipients represented 20 unique sports—ranging from rodeo and gymnastics to lacrosse and canoeing.

Another art contest for Nuu-chah-nulth youth.

🚨 Deadline Reminder: FPCC's Holiday Card Contest submissions are due on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 ☃️

If you know an Indigenous artist aged 5-12, we would love for them to enter! Age categories are 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12.

❄️ The top four designs will be featured on our 2026 holiday card and sent to FPCC's friends, family, partners, colleagues and networks.
❄️ The top submission from each age category will receive a $150 gift card and 20 cards with their own design on them.
❄️ Two runner-ups from each age category will be chosen to receive a $50 gift card.

Usma Youth Drop-In is BACK!

We're excited to kick off another season of connection and fun. Starting this week, our weekly youth drop-in is open again for all Usma-connected youth.

October is going to be packed with awesome fall activities, including an upcoming trip to a corn maze and our annual Halloween party!

• When: Thursday nights from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Hands-on learning at its finest! Ditidaht Community School Grades 9-12 Outdoor Education students were busy smoking salmon last week.

Programs like this provide our youth with incredible, real-world experiences—building teamwork, connecting with nature, and teaching practical skills they will carry with them for life.

Congratulations to our Caregiver Support Worker, Donna Lucas! Donna recently joined the live launch of the Calling All Kin podcast to discuss the evolving landscape of Indigenous child welfare in BC.

Donna shared her learnings and experiences as a caregiver and a support worker. In 1988, Usma Nuu-chah-nulth Family and Child Services became BC’s first Indigenous Family and Child Services Agency. Today, approximately 80% of Usma caregiving homes are Nuu-chah-nulth—a testament to the deep, shared commitment of our Elders, caregivers, families, staff, leadership, and the Nuučaan̓uł Tribal Council. With dedicated people on our team like Donna, Usma is constantly evolving and taking steps to improve our services.
