Hey Port Alberni, don't forget to Come See the Quay today! It is the last day of filming for Home Town Takeover Canada and the space is looking beautiful! Free kids activities, live music, dancers, and a ribbon cutting at 2pm- see you there!

Just a reminder that the road into Harbour Quay is closed today for the event, so check out the parking map shared here, look for the shuttles, and take a moment to fill out the release form before you arrive:

Last chance to get your swim or sweat on!

The Echo Pool & Fitness Studio's annual maintenance shutdown begins Friday, August 28, at 4:00 pm.

Our final swim of the day on Friday will be a public swim from 1:30 - 3:30 pm! We hope you can join us.

The Pool & Fitness Studio is scheduled to re-open to the public on Sunday, September 27.

๐ŸŽ‰ The Home Town Takeover Finale is almost here!

If you're joining us at Harbour Quay on August 28, please note a few important traffic and parking changes:

โœ… Limited parking begins at 6:00 a.m. on Friday.
โœ… Full road closure begins at 8:30 a.m.
โœ… Traffic flaggers will be on-site to help guide visitors
โœ… Ribbon cutting starts at 2:00 p.m.

๐Ÿš To make getting to the event easier, a shuttle service will run along Harbour Road between: โ€ข The Somass Lands parking area โ€ข The Train Station โ€ข Lighthouse Marina parking area.

Please check the attached map for available parking locations.
With parking expected to fill quickly, we strongly recommend carpooling, walking, or cycling.

Let's work together to keep traffic moving and make this a great community celebration!

The pool will be drained and our busy maintenance folks will be working hard to clean, grout, scrub and paint over the next few weeks.

Fun fact! Did you know our main pool (deep and shallow tanks) holds almost a million liters of water? It holds 991,777 liters of water, or 262,000 gallons, and all that water is run through the filter system every 4 to 5 hours.

As this is will be a worksite, there will be no public permitted in the Aquatic Centre but you can check out the progress from the 10th Avenue doors.

Waitโ€ฆ.. what do to you mean, โ€œYour package is on its way - delivery delayedโ€??

Weโ€™ve all been there, waiting on books and clothes to arrive. Well it turns out, it can happen with municipal playground equipment too!

So a quick update on the playground at Harbour Quay. The playground equipment at Harbour Quay will *not* be removed this week. The playground will continue to be open until further notice, for all you kiddies to enjoy! Please stay tuned for further information on the playground at Harbour Quay and our next steps.

And donโ€™t forget to mark your calendars for August 28th, 2pm- 5pm, and Come See the Quay! Itโ€™s the big reveal weโ€™ve all been waiting for, and your chance to discover everything new. See you there!

Weโ€™ve received some recent inquiries at City Hall regarding Papermill Dam and the possibility that the City may develop the site into a campground. We just wanted to share the current status with the community!

At the May 13th Committee of the Whole meeting, a Municipal Campground Business and Development plan was brought forward by staff. Following review and discussion, Council directed staff to return with a new report identifying the community need for a municipal campground and an associated business case for Council to consider in the future.

No decisions regarding a campground or change in use at the Papermill Dam site have been made to date and all decisions on the matter would be provided in a public agenda to allow public input.

The City plans to host another Connect with your City open house event later this fall to allow for public review and input regarding park use. Stay tuned for more information on that eventโ€”we hope to see you there!

Attention Harbour Quay enthusiasts.... Tomorrow (August 20) from 6am-2pm, parking at Spirit Square will be temporarily closed to allow for filming of the space. Businesses will remain open as usual, and pedestrians and customers can still access the space of course... just please be aware that you may be asked to move briefly to allow for filming to occur.
