On September 29, Uchucklesaht Citizens, Elders, families and community members gathered at Nucii in Port Alberni to honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

Through stories, songs and shared reflection, we honoured residential school Survivors, remembered the children who never returned home and celebrated the strength and resilience of our people.

Guided by ʔuʔaałuk (Taking Care Of) and hišukʷiš c̕awaak (Everything is One), we are reminded of our responsibility to care for one another, honour our Elders and carry their stories forward for future generations.

We remember. We honour. We heal together. 🧡

🧡 Reconciliation is something we do, not just something we talk about.

The Uchucklesaht Tribe Government welcomes the statement from John Jack, Chair of the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District Government (ACRD), reaffirming the importance of meaningful reconciliation, cultural learning, and stronger relationships between First Nations and local governments.

As a Treaty Nation represented on the ACRD Board, we recognize the importance of working together, learning from one another, and building relationships grounded in mutual respect and understanding.

We appreciate Chair Jack's continued leadership and commitment to advancing reconciliation through meaningful action.

We encourage everyone to read his full statement and reflect on the importance of this work for the future of our communities.

A special moment from home in Ehthlateese. 💚🐟

Saa-see-iss (Andre Lucas) caught dinner for his family last night and was back out enjoying more fishing this morning.

His grandmother, Regina Frank, UTG Councillor & Executive Member, proudly describes him as a ʕačik (atsik), a good fisherman.

These are the moments that make being home so special: spending time together, fishing in the ḥaḥuułi, and sharing knowledge and traditions across generations.
