WHERE DID RUBY POP UP THIS WEEK? 🍓🕵️‍♀️

Ruby here again! I’ve been having so much fun exploring my new home and discovering all the places, people, and traditions that make this community so special. ❤️

This week, I stopped by one of Port Colborne’s most iconic spots — the Dairy Queen! 🍦

While visiting, I learned that food has a funny way of bringing people together. Ice cream with family on a summer night, coffee with a friend, backyard BBQs, or sharing a meal around the table.

But as summer gets closer, many families in our community are feeling the pressure of higher grocery costs and stretched budgets.

That’s why Port Cares is working to collect 40,000lbs of food to celebrate 40 years of caring for our community.
Every donation helps make sure our neighbours have food and support when they need it most.

And with the end of the campaign getting closer too, we need your help now more than ever to help stock shelves and prepare for the busy summer months ahead. 🍓

Here’s how you can help:
🥫 Drop food donations off at the Reach Out Centre (61 Nickel St)
💚 Donate online at portcares.ca

I wonder where I’ll end up next week… 👀

We’re looking for volunteers to support our new Garden Program! 🌱

Volunteers will help care for the greenhouse and raised garden beds at our 61 Nickel Street location, as well as our nearby community garden. Tasks may include planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, and general garden maintenance

It’s a great opportunity to spend time outdoors, learn new skills, and help grow fresh produce for our community 💚

If you’re interested in volunteering and supporting the work we do at Port Cares, we’d love to hear from you! Training and guidance will be provided

HALFWAY THERE AND JUST GETTING STARTED! 🎉

19,000lbs of food! That’s what this community has made possible. That’s families who won’t have to choose between groceries and rent. That’s kids with lunch kits. That’s seniors with food on their tables. But we still have 21,000 lbs to go, and the need in our community isn’t slowing down. Neither are we. 40,000lbs. 40 years

Let’s make it count. Drop off at 61 Nickel Street or donate at portcares.ca 💚🍓

A huge thank you to the carpentry students at Lakeshore Catholic High School for building these beautiful raised garden beds for Chestnut Place! 🌱

This project is such a thoughtful example of students using their skills to make a meaningful impact in the community. We can’t wait to see these beds put to good use this summer. 💚

Our 40,000lbs Food Campaign for 40 Years continues to grow! 💙

This week alone, donations increased by another 5,000lbs, bringing our total to 13,000 pounds collected toward our 40,000lbs goal in celebration of Port Cares’ 40th anniversary

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated, hosted food drives, and supported the campaign so far. Every pound collected helps support local individuals and families who rely on our food bank services

Thank you for helping us make a difference, one donation at a time

WHERE DID RUBY POP UP THIS WEEK? 🍓🕵️‍♀️

Hi friends! Ruby here. I’m still pretty new to Port Colborne, so I’ve been spending my days exploring my new home and learning more about this amazing community along the way ❤️

This week, I learned something that really surprised me…

Did you know the Reach Out Centre is funded almost entirely by local community support?

That means the food on the shelves, the warm meals served, and the support families receive each week are only possible because people in our community choose to care for one another

I think that’s pretty incredible

For 40 years, Port Cares has been helping neighbours through difficult times, and now we’re trying to collect 40,000lbs of food to celebrate 40 years of service to our community

You can help us by:
🥫 Droping off food donations at the Reach Out Centre (61 Nickel Street)
💚 Donating online at portcares.ca to help purchase food where it’s needed most

I can’t wait to keep exploring Port Colborne and sharing more things I learn along the way!
