Before the boats head out, skilled hands are already at work.
Net menders bring patience, precision, and years of experience to every knot and repair, helping make sure the catch stays where it belongs.
Just as important is the camaraderie on the dock—the stories, the coffee breaks, and the shared pride in the work. This year, that pride was especially clear to see with a grandmother working alongside her young granddaughter, the youngest mender on the dock at just 14 years old.
