Wanted to share this update from one of Port Moody’s small business owners.

A few days ago, the owner posted that she had been approached to provide free product to a celebrity in town. She declined to do so and explained exactly why these asks are so problematic (and in my opinion, inappropriate) to ask of small businesses. I am putting a link to that post here in the comments.

In response to that post, she has received abuse and poor reviews. Being a business owner and entrepreneur is incredibly risky and hard flipping work. To try to harm a small business for not providing you with free product is deplorable.

All this to say - Oh Sweet Day Bake Shop makes INCREDIBLE cakes and deserves your business, Port Moody! The hazelnut latté cake is my favourite but I have many yet to try!

The Port Moody Station Museum is hosting a Mix & Mingle fundraiser on Thursday, Sept 24th from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at Pasta Polo Coquitlam.

Tickets are $65, which includes a full Italian buffet dinner, a drink, and a free copy of Tracks in Time - a well-illustrated book documenting 100 years of Port Moody, featuring early settlers, sawmills, and the railway history.

✅ Today, I am so proud to be able to deliver on one of my main campaign promises from 2022: affordable housing at the Inlet District site.

When I first ran for Council in 2022, I honestly did so because my frustration with the Council of the day made it impossible for me to watch from the sidelines any longer.

One of those frustrations was Council’s utter (and frankly, embarrassing) lack of good faith when working with community builders. I have written about this at length previously and will share my original post specific to this project in the comments.

That council chose not to prioritize affordable housing in its back-and-forth with Wesgroup when it approved the project, so I’m grateful that this council agreed we should do our best to right this wrong. Today, it’s official.

It’s amazing what can be achieved when we all work together for the benefit of residents!

Fabulous evening last night with old friends and new, raising money for the Grow Local Society at their Long Table dinner under the stars at Blue Mountain Park. The theme was “farm chic” with a denim and white dress code.

The weather cooperated, we enjoyed delicious food and drink that was grown and sold locally at our Coquitlam and Port Moody Farmers Market, and celebrated the importance of raising our next generation to understand where their food comes from. 🌽🍷🫛🌿🍋
