25 years later, we remember.
On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 lives were lost, including 343 FDNY firefighters who answered the call and never returned home.
The loss did not end that day.
In the 25 years since, many more firefighters, first responders, recovery workers and others exposed to the toxic conditions at Ground Zero have died from 9/11-related illnesses. Thousands more continue to live with the lasting health effects of their service and exposure.
Today, we remember all those lost. We honour their courage, their service and their sacrifice, and we stand with the families and colleagues who continue to carry their memory.
Twenty-five years have passed. We will never forget. π¨π¦πΊπΈ
