Volunteer firefighters from the Township of Georgian Bay Fire and Emergency Services spent this past Saturday out on the water doing public service for the Gloucester Pool Cottagers’ Association’s 25th annual Canoe for Cancer.

The team helped es**rt paddlers on their 13 km journey on the Trent-Severn Waterway from Big Chute Marine Railway to Port Severn Park, ensuring everyone arrived at their destination safely.

Congratulations to all the participants on their hard work out on the water, and for raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society!

The Township of Georgian Bay is seeking a Winter Patrol employee for a temporary seasonal contract from November 2026 to April 2027.

Help monitor winter road conditions, identify hazards, and support snow and ice control operations throughout the Township.

💰 $25.88 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
🕑 Thursday to Sunday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
📅 Apply by September 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

Only human waste and septic-safe toilet paper should be flushed. Wipes, grease, food scraps, chemicals and products labelled “flushable” can still clog or damage your system.

Planning to operate a short-term rental? Your septic system must be able to support the number of occupants. Additional bedrooms or bunkies may also require confirmation that your system has sufficient capacity.

Before making changes or submitting a short-term rental application, speak with a qualified septic designer or installer.

Do you have winter road maintenance experience and a valid DZ Driver’s Licence? We want to hear from you!
